I love Barcola but have convinced myself Barcola isn’t as good as Nico lately.. Looking at how PSG and France have used him .. probably the only person more lethal than him when there is space to run in behind defenders is Mbappe .. But low block and small space play to keep possession and dominate opponents.. He isn’t used .. Nico plays for Spain .. I think he can be used in any situation and starts his dribbles standing vs 2 players at times and still moves defenders. I think if you own both players you probably pick Nico the most .. unsure if he wants to leave Spain but he is way cheaper more well rounded as a better target. Meaningless hypothetical discussion.. but why we are footballfans in transfer season.

Tragic news
Very few people in life don’t embellish their achievements but they don’t get to be destroyed in public like this guy did. A witch-hunt for political and ideological reasons
Re. Martinelli to turkey. Is it possible it was belated news that maybe he was offered before vini was settled as one of the dominos to fall if that deal worked out? Selling Nelli now make zero sense without a MAJOR domino to knock it down first.
Chicago Arse! (We'll see if I'm any better at getting to that pizza place than silly ole gunnerblog was😂)
Bruce!
Good evening champions
Really sad to see the news about Jason Arday.
Whatever one feels about the whole situation or the rights and wrongs that's just awful.
The worst thing about it is the same people who hounded him, using him as the punchbag for their attacks on diversity policies, are now out on social media saying how sad it is he's gone but it's still the fault of DEI, rather than acknowledge they hounded him for mistakes and made-up histories that are all too common in society. I just read this quote of his: "When people talk about the need for Black Excellence I counter with an insistence on Black mediocrity: the right for black people to be as average, flawed, compromised & mistaken as any other group of people. The right, ultimately, to be human."
So sad that there was no one seemingly he could turn to, to say all this public shaming is bullshit. So sad this has happened. When is this society going to get kinder? What is this nastiness all about?
Our player of the year -1975.

Absolutely awful. Life cut short in such appalling circumstances.

Gabi is too good for Turkey at this juncture in his career. I agree this was very clumsy and lacked class from where I sit.
Maybe you think he's too good for Turkey. He's certainly not good enough for any club serious about winning trophies regularly Been a great servant, but I do wish more of the fanbase would get over sentimental loyalty and recognise when a player isn't good enough. Godts gone to PSG, the fact we're not making enough attempt with Barcola is looking really poor to me. We need to see some serious moves next week from Don Berta. No excuses.
You are Hazza of the Arses. A fearless warrior who swears like a bastard. Expressions Oozing would call you a "pussio" for reacting like that.
A golf club local to me apparently had to remind its members to ensure cigarettes smoked on the course were completely extinguished.
Never underestimate people's ability to be twats.

By the end of this window, Raheem Sterling is going to start looking appealing.
Though according to his chant, he's technically from Senegal 😅
Haha. And Chamakh from near Iraq, lest we forget!
Did we make a bid for the Argentine racist? It's almost an hour past the deadline.

If the PGMOL want to make themselves popular they should allow bigger squads.
Then again, if Martinelli and/or Jesus leave, there's still Heinze 😅
Exactly!
We could also be about to lose one or two of our Gabis
If we only lose one, at least we've still got two spares, actually now, so we'll be OK.

that would be quite complicated to do. we definitely get checked. the university is strict about it. can't speak for fake establishments, though
I threw my watch at the TV in fury when it went 3-0
Apart from the horrendous Chelsea game with the Wayne bridge dagger, the season turned out pretty well...
I had a very bad feeling about that Cuntski return match.
39°C outside? Yeah, I think I'll stay in the office a little longer, despite it being Friday....
Had forgotten about that one (not the result but that he even played there), the 5-1 at their place was more memorable. And therefore also no trauma attached for me.

I think he is very average from a technical standpoint. But he is a physical beast and he can get shots off that others can't because of his athleticism.
I'll just say the people who get frustrated by the lack of technicality of Gyokeres will get a healthy dose of that with Osimhen.
That said he is a physical specimen that has a level of athleticism ...

That's a huge plus for me that you're for it, I've hardly seen him play recently. It seems the most convenient if we let them have Martinelli and take Osimhen. I wonder what that will mean for Gyökere...
Yeah let’s be clear I haven’t been watching the Turkish league 😂 but caught most his national games and in CL and the latest years I was already on board pre Gyokeres.. Osimhen is absolutely the real deal and he harrasses defenders and throws his head in places I wouldn’t put my foot. I wrote how upset I was last week that spörs were bidding for him so us trying to make that deal is very welcome.
Must have borrowed obafemi Martin's passport

Just watched some comps. Defenders bounce off him like little boys. He is an absolute rhino.

Just read a NY Times article how Brian Madjo gave PSG centerbacks all they could handle in the Super Cup.
17 years old, 6'4" and 220 lb monster by all accounts. Sheesh that is massive.

how’s it a failure in good journalism? he’s reported the facts as they are, which is we’ve contacted the player not the club. not sure ornstein can be held responsible for reporting reality
It's just not news to report that a club is interested in a player when there's nothing tangible to report.
I'm sure both Konsa/Quansah are fine, but it does sound like the punchline of a Ray Parlour story.
Need a Cobra in there.
Osimhen scores goals. We need goals. He pressed like a demon at Napoli so maybe Mikel allows him some minutes.

I'm okay about the link to Quansah, but it looks like another tentative, exploratory one. Thankfully, at least we've been spared the dreadful cliché "concrete", but do we really lack the capacity to identify a player in another league capable of providing cover at right and centre backs? Our recruitment has the hallmarks of laziness and convenience.
Long gone are the days when this was called 'tapping up'.

If you'd fancy playing with Linux, you can probably get an old ThinkPad which won't run Win11 for much less than £200, maybe nearer £150, and it would run fast! Those Lenovo laptops are made to last and it would be yours to do what you want, without your company being able to spy on you!

I have an aged IMac that I do the arses on and everything else's - my new phone is is too clever by half. and I have a folder full of alt keys reminders when I can't remember what's what which is becoming alarmingly often.

I was impressed when he came on in Dublin after Copley's injury. He stood out for me in that second half. And l thought on Wednesday he did very little wrong, perhaps could have done a bit more for their goal. Promising and he should be around the first team for the coming weeks at least.

Put it this way: these days it's the only option if your slightly older laptop won't run Windows 11 or you don't want your computer to spy on you. And believe it or not, installing most types of Linux is quite straightforward compared to Windows 11. I had to reinstall W11 on a partition on my computer last night, as it happens. W11 is only easier to install because someone already did it for you before you bought the computer.

Depends on what the question is....
We are said to be in talks with Leverkusen to sign him
We hads Calafiori and bought Hincapie. Think it's clear we're happy to bring in starting quality players to share roles, buying 'backups' is folly. We did that a lot in late Arsene era.
Konsa is real...
I miss having a specialist fullback. Someone brilliant at LB or RB but if you played at CB would be absolutely fucking useless.
Go get someone like that Berta.

Konsa is really good, quite quick and athletic too which i guess is why he's often used at full back but obviously the plan is for White and Timber to share that role. Konsa would be coming in to play with Gabriel for the forseeable and fill in when required i assume? When you're really good and winning things, players are understandably pretty happy to share roles.
Depends on what the question is....

I may have mentioned in past chats that I'd spent a few weeks in Colombia at Christmas 2010. There was a woman involved who I'd met online but the HHPP (anyone who understands Spanish will know) at our Home Office wouldn't let her come here for a holiday, even though it would have been totally at my expense. I might have ended up married to her, who knows, but the HHPP put a stop to that! Still, I wouldn't have had the adventures between then and meeting the current Mrs Collibosher about 10 years ago. I packed a lot into those 6 years, and, looking back at the age of 72, je ne regret rien.
If the question is name a rash defender who we'll have to loan to Milan with an option to buy next summer

You need someone who can adequately cover for our missing £150m defender. Salmon looks so impressive, but it’s asking a lot to expect him to cover for what could be months, especially if Mosquera has to cover right-back as well. It’s not ideal, but he is an England international, sell-on value should stay high for an English defender in his prime.

I wonder what that will mean for Gyökeres. I still think we'd need a winger, but maybe Tzolis can be more dependable than the two who've been holding that position.
I think Berta's just being 'agressive' in the market....
you have to make people aware that you've got stuff to sell....
The MLS stuff is the equivalent of a trader saying looking at my 'shiny stuff' before dragging you in the back and seeling you a broken Jesus for £20mil......
PL proven England international.. can play CB and RB .. doesn’t excite me but on paper not a bad target at all you know what you get and he will not be a starter once everyone is fit.. Always does well in fantasy..
We need someone who is capable of passing the ball, someone better than Gabriel in that regard. Konsa's stats are not bad in that regard in Premier league last season.
Successful passes:

Good stats, but what we want to maintain is the aura of Saliba that strikers and wingers think twice about trying to beat him as he has strength, pace and coolness. Maybe Konsa has it, I don't get that impression. Diomande has that aura for me. Maybe Konsa's more fucntional, with the passing it makes sense. I guess we need to finalise that price so we know what we can afford for a winger/striker.
I don’t think we will spend 60 on him Komsa maybe 40-45 on deadline day.But you can see how we need someone anyone who has watched us in preseason must be shivering.. but nevermind I’m all for the Osimhen rumours way more so than Alvarez.. NB wanted him like 3 year’s ago but I didn think he suited us and would rather have the likes of Isak .. but I’ve watched Osimhen plenty and changed my mind since then he is the absolute highest level of Striker.. just below Haaland and on par or above Isak .. and Gyokeres.. if we add him to why we already have we are a huge fucking problem for anyone.
If we're stupid enough to spaff £60m on Konsa, then that says a lot about the state of our recruitment team. I've banged the drum that it seems all too convenient and lazy. Titles are not won in Septe...
Diomande from Sporting, 22-years-old, went for around £40m. Seems strange we weren't in for him. Would seem to me to have been a better option than Konsa. This surprises me, can only presume we rejected the option.

We need someone who is capable of passing the ball, someone better than Gabriel in that regard. Konsa's stats are not bad in that regard in Premier league last season.
Successful passes:
Saliba: 1954
Konsa: 2003
Gabriel: 1528
Successful passes (%)
Saliba: 92,9%
Konsa: 95,5%
Gabriel: 88,2%
Successful long passes:
Saliba: 59
Konsa: 61
Gabriel: 78
Successful long passes (%):
Saliba: 50,9%
Konsa: 61%
Gabriel: 46%
If we're stupid enough to spaff £60m on Konsa, then that says a lot about the state of our recruitment team. I've banged the drum that it seems all too convenient and lazy. Titles are not won in September and October, which is why Pep (plus special juice) was so good at getting Man City into the groove in April and May whereas we looked fucked. We should explore a move for a grizzled defender who'll jump at the chance to play for Arsenal, or perhaps look at the likes of Mavropanos. He'll cost several times the pittance we sold him for, but at least he knows the club, the league and offers yet more set piece threat.
Konsa is overrated. Let's put the money towards a goal threatening left winger, if we can find one.

We all just know there will be no attackers signed in this window.

‘We clearly don’t need any money’.
Not sure about that. Perhaps that’s why selling players for lowball prices is a topic of discussion… but perish the thought the majority opinion might be the accurate one.
Let's avoid concentrating on the result, Ollie.
Or the result the last time I was at a game.
We are fucking DOOMED on Sunday because a right Jonah is attending
What a happy memory, genuinely thought Diaby had ended him haha
Last time I was there Cesc ran the show v Utd
Not a happy memory as far as I'm concerned.
Diaby was having a monster game, and that incident killed his and our match.
I was absolutely gutted (and nearly came to blows with a Cuntski fans that day, I mean, not really, just verbals, but rarely been as pissed off as this with another fan in a pub).
Don't worry everyone.
I'm off to Cardiff on Sunday. The last time I was there John Terry got knocked unconscious.
And so we lost....
why are we trying to break our title winning team?
Great and important question. Some of our fans seem to have taken this weird need to be seen as "good sellers", or, based on today's blog, "active sellers", to heart. What fucking difference it makes on the field is another thing entirely.

I dont know lads , I mean Martinelli , are we looking at him in too strong of rose tinted glasses ?
Can poor old Ben put another season together even after a bad injury, Saliba and Rice in needn't proper rest and even then surgery can't be ruled out for Will and feck knows what will happen Ricer . Saka and Kai we hope and pray stay fit , Madueke hardly pulling up trees , the defintion of progress is making incremental improvements and we need to do so and not sit still

How the fuck did they not believe you? You know, given you have a whole life together etc
When Mrs Bass and I married in Sydney in 1999 we had to go to the UK High Commission in Canberra and present documentation providing we had been in a relationship for the three years we had been together. Phone bills, letters, travel documents etc. it wasn't a foregone conclusion that she would be allowed to live in the UK.
It's been difficult for a long time now. Which is the main reason she became a UK citizen a couple of years ago as she was worried her indefinite leave to remain was vulnerable to revocation.
why are we trying to break our title winning team?

why are we trying to break our title winning team?
Because its unlikely we will have defensive performances as we did last year , we weren't lucky as such but too many games were too close for comfort and 1 goal victories , just looking to upgrade in areas where we can

Fucking hell, had anyone watched Osimhen try to work the wings recently…?
5 years ago maybe but now he’s far from agile, if Gyok plays in jeans Osimhen plays in leather jeans

Martinelli, think we all need something fresh ..
If Konsas coming in , will Ben be added to the outgoings.
I know that would make Blogs cry but , he could bring in some money and if it meant keeping away from selling Myles then should be considered

Exporting what's app chats???!!! The encroachment of surveillance into private life has gone off the scale. When it's something important like citizenship, the bureaucracy is worse than I ever remember it. As with VAR, it's not the technology that's the problem, it's the old, antiquated people still in charge who get to use it to make even poorer decisions, while making money. The worse kind of shakedown. Sorry you're going through this Nik, hope it works out, even if it sounds like it's costing a packet.

When my gf at the time, soon to be fiance, tried to visit me in the UK from Brazil, after she arrived at Gatwick they kidnapped her away and locked her up in a G4S holding cell for the night without telling me what was going on, then shipped her off the next morning at my expense without ever allowing us to see each other. This was at the time of Theresa May's racist 'go home' vans (remember those?). I will never forgive the Tory government at the time. I went out to Brazil the following year to see her, but it wasn't the same. It ultimately destroyed us and we are no longer together.

There are downsides, of course. I would be slightly concerned of his character to be honest.
But his number of goal contributions are so impressive. In European competitions only (CL and EL) he's played 42 games (26 goals, 7 assists). That makes 0,79 goal contributions per game. There are not too many strikers reaching the same level out there.

That lumbering around is what I pictured when goldsoundz mentioned, and I had the feeling that I was sure from the youtube clips that Gyökeres was better than he turned out to be and maybe it's the same for Osimhen. The only thing I would say is that he's faster than Gyökeres and I think stronger too. Big Vik looks like he can run through walls, but time and again when he tussling with a defender for a long ball, he seems to end up on his arse. Must be either lack of leverage, or not as strong as he seems.
When I get stressed I try to tell myself that we are rich and we will buy good people.
We already have.

Piss is boiling, it seems, and it's nothing to do with the incessant heatwaves.
I would welcome Osimhen, but if Martinelli would go the other way, we would also need to buy a replacement for him.

There's an aspect of "lumbering around" to his gait which surprises me cos I thought he would be athletic and a clean runner.
I'm not sure about Osimhen, after it was goldsoundz I think who said he's no more skilful and agile up front than Gyökeres. But he does have pace and can also play off the wing perhaps? And maybe a goal a game in Turkey is no big thing, but it certainly still is in Italy, just about. Maybe they get Gyökeres in return then we've lost nothing, as long as Osimhen stays fit. Anyway, trusting in Don Berta, this is a crossroads wee ahead for him. He had better be very good at closing these deals both ways.

Martinelli swap for Konsa.
Emery gave Martinelli his debut I believe?, they certainly know each other .
Villa are in Europe champions league and will push for top four again...
Seems reasonable?
I like Martinelli but if they Berta and Arteta have decided to show him the door

Couldn't agree more. I didn't expect this swell of speculation and amateurish attempts to plant the seeds of doubt about the future of two of our exciting academy products. This is not the platform for progression I expected after winning the title and getting so close to winning the Champions League.

We have six defenders available: Hincapie, Calafiori, Gabriel, Mosquera, White, Salmon (not counting MLS to play at left back anymore). One of those is 16, and White and Calafiori won't stay fit. This must be a priority.
