What I object to is the endless sticks with which we're beaten. Man City beating us to a 16 year old boy by overpaying for him doesn't warrant the sort of reaction it did which then became yet more evidence of our supposed incompetence in transfer dealings. As for the astonishing fee for Rogers, a sensible club would weigh it up and baulk as we did cos it's a massive financial commitment for several years. It doesn't mean Arsenal are crap at transfers, Arteta has been "failed" yet again in landing his top targets. Here's a point - maybe some of Arteta's top targets are not worth it. Many of them have turned out to be anything other than top players, so the club are within their rights to not treat him like a child in a sweetshop and say "gorge away".

If Arteta had earmarked him for the left, then I'm happy it didn't work out cos we need a proper winger. It would also have led to more confusion about where Eze fits. I feel he needs a sustained period in the team cos he's so deadly in and around the box. Working him into shooting positions should be one of the strategies the coaching team should be working on.

I watched the whole match and was very happy with the result not withstanding the miserable sod of a pundit telling us how bad we had been /were pre match. I did hide behind a large chair right at the very end and unfortunately missed Judes contribution. I was one defensive substitution away from turning the game off last night, but thankfully Tommy Tickles came to his senses and brought on players in their natural positions (pretty much) to give much needed fresh legs. So pleased for Saka to get a World Cup hat-trick.
As I said, I think yesterday, the fees are what the market will stand and we're complicit in it. We cant expect to pay £100m for Declan Rice two years ago and then complain about players going for less than 20% more than that now.
I think we could do with a striker now anyway, not another attacking mid. That and a central midfielder, maybe Bruno G, and we're all set. Although I expect Arteta to sign a defender or two, he can't help himself.
