But given the new league format for the early round it doesn't make as much sense, but I loved it in the old European cup knock-out and think it would help make for more exciting games in the knockout phase.

I want to see MLS in midfield for the PL run-in, and definitely playing there next year. Don't think he will start tonight though.
Get a Jorginho-type midfielder for next year to support Rice and Zubimendi, coupled with Kvaratskhelia for LW (or someone of his caliber/talent) and we'll be cooking next year.

I always said: if Arteta wins the PL, give him more time. He is a top manager, the best in the game, but his flaws in building a proper attacking unit have annoyed me.
But again, he will deserve another year (and more) if he wins the title, which is always deserved if you consider everything this team has gone through.
Now Atletico Madrid—I really hope we pull this one off. No weird selections please Mikel!

If we can keep up the energy and quality from Saturday then we should have enough to overcome Atletico. I would go with MLS again, but I expect Zubimendi will be in. Rice has to play 6 now, we have seen how effective he is there. It's the old adage about not moving your best players out of their best positions to accommodate someone else and weaken both spots.

Yesterday I decided not to watch the first half at all. Checked scores after I did some stuff: 1-0 to City. Bah not worth it. Did other stuff and should have just gone to sleep. Oddly had a good feeling though. Checked the score. 3-1, wow! No turning on the telly though, just in case.
Intermittently checked updates on L'Equipe from then on (nearly immediate 3-2 but didn't worry). Added time, whatever minutes, OK. Long delay in the update when I expected the 'Full-time' change from red to black in the scores. So I think they've equalised. And they have, but it's OK, they still don't win.
