As I never tire of saying, I never wanted him. However, I've no doubt that we've needed Gyokeres this season. Havertz and Jesus being injured meant that Gyokeres had no settling in period.
I'm certain that there was no option to leave getting a striker for next season. I think there is a conundrum. I'd like to sell Gyokeres, but I can't see it. We may need to sell Havertz. We definitely need to offload Jesus (no fee). If we get rid of two, we would need a robust and consistent player. I'm not sure there are many options out there.

At the moment I think it's that lot's to lose.
If we win by 3, I'm back to feeling it's 50-50. If we win by 5 I'm happy to declare us favourites and I don't care what the narrative is.
I'm not happy with a 1-0. We let it slip being timid. If they want it, they have to go grab it, not just play the margins.

I previously complained about how all this obfuscation about injuries has not yielded any advantage, a point Gunnerblog made on one of the Arsecasts. I'm not suggesting we go back to the awful days of our medical team issuing bulletins, but I'm yet to see what we've gained from the keeping it close to the chest approach.
