Luckily I’m on my way up to the north of seden for some skiing with the Pontette. So I’ll probably miss the game on Sunday.

Morning. Yeah it feels like work.
Winning is everything now. Next season we have to start playing better though.
Morning, lovers of boring football team.
Watching this Arsenal team while not in a stadium has become a chore.
I was vaguely relieved at the final whistle, absolutely no joy.
May we hope that, if we make it to the final, at least an opposition vs QSG or Bayern might provide some entertainment, win or lose?
All I will say is we played better than against Bournemouth, thank fuck for that.
Good thing we scored that late goal in Lisbon, as enduring an extra 30 min if it had come to that would have been a killer.
I'm kind of OK with boring City to death on Sunday though, but I'm really sick of watching us.
Arriving back at Gatwick around start time. Will probably be enduring the commentary in the car
Don't bother yourself with that mate... Listen to something else!
Congratulations to Arsenal for getting to the CL semi-final and to everyone that managed to get through watching it.
Arsenal once again flying the flag for the PL in the CL...
Any chat about Saka availability for Sunday ?
Need him and Timber back. For me lthough they dont combine well, Timber is good tracking back and not giving space to attackers.
We have suffered in his absence. Starting with that sh*tshow in the carling cup final

Morning iclass. You didnt miss anything. But you have a big decision to make for the sunday game.
A walk over for many here.
One good thing abt last night if we can call it that - based on our recent performances we are not favourites.
That should ease the pressure valve somewhat.
Morning. Two hour time difference and being tired from lots of walking meant I didn’t stay up for the game.
Seems I may have made the right decision
A number of famous top level strikers began by playing non_ league football.
Elite strikers, it seems ,more than other positions can be late developers.
Famous among these are Ian Wright, Alan Smith, Jamie Vardy, Troy Deenie. Elite players playing at a non league level.
Victor Gjokeres is the diametric opposite . He is a non league player playing at the elite level. With performances like tonight's he would not look out of place at any non league side in the country.
Congratulations to Arsenal for getting to the CL semi-final and to everyone that managed to get through watching it.
This Ethan myth grows by the day. He’s not even getting into the Marseille side but would have been our savior? Come on guys.
Recent managerial change didn't help. 3 goal contributions in 8 games is respectable.
Yo Andrew, we've got a live one here.
Snatching ennui from the jaws of victory.
That would be a good title for tomorrow's blog.
Snatching ennui from the jaws of victory.
yeah this
Snatching ennui from the jaws of victory.
I think this is where our style of play is so dissatisfying. Today was an objectively massive achievement but it all feels so flat. Remember Rice’s free kicks against Madrid? Would the game stick so much in the memory, would we hang onto that game so much, if we had slogged it out and won 1-0 with a Hincapie headed goal?

Weird season.
Weird atmosphere.
First time we have reached back to back CL/ EC semis. Stadium three quarters empty within two minutes of full time.
At some stage in the future, we are going to be shit again, and we will wonder why we were so entitled to walk pretty comfortably into a 2nd consecutive CL semi, with the crowd just…. not really being that arsed
I can... Head down and run the ball out of play.
Not in that situation.
We missed Martinelli right at the end when Raya threw the ball out to Trossard but he wasn't quick enough to sprint away from the defence and get a shot on goal. Imagine if that had been Martinelli!

Just looking at the very brief highlights on BBC web site. When Trossard hit the post from the corner, I don't think that he intended to head it back into the mixer. From the angle they showed it, it looked like the goalie anticipated that Trossard was going to head it back across and did leave a gap. I genuinely think that Trossard was going for goal. Though from there, he didn't have much to aim at, but it was the right thing to attempt.

Aye, or Max, basically anyone who isn't Trossard.
I suppose it's because of the group game.
Truth is, the best semis would have been : Bayern PSG / City Barca
Martin Keown saying he'd rather we play Bayern than PSG. I really don't know who I prefer
I suppose it's because of the group game.
The CBS team have the toughest task of making a highlight reel of that game.

We probably don't go 3v1 or 5 in attack due to the fear of over-committing and being caught on the counterattack.
I agree that everything is complicated and contrived.
I said during the game that I don't think I've seen a team at this level that makes football look so difficult.
It's so physical and tiring, no wonder the midfield is burnt out by the new year.
Lots of baffling things at the moment.
Maybe the whole city team will have a case of diarrhea and shit the bed literally before our game.
Get Arsène to make their pre-match meal ... Lasagne!!

We are not doing simple things.. Arsenal could have 3 vs 1 in attack 5 times and not score. Everything is complicated and contrived. We don’t need vini or Mpappe to improve on what is currently on show.

Anyway lads. Football comes in cycles. We have been fucking amazing for about 3-4 years but trophies have continually escaped us.
Let’s crawl over the line this year, get hold of a major trophy to justify the exceptionally high level we have been performing at - and then when the dust settles, acknowledge that it’s gone stale and we need significant changes to freshen things up
As he said himself 'What else can they say?'.

Bayern sound as though they are pretty good at the moment.
Just imagine the scenario where Kane wins a CL medal and spurs get relegated.

Well they beat us in the beautiful stadium pissing contest
Could be worse. We could be tiny totts
Eh, they're pretenders. We're supposed to be a big club.
You'd need a technical level redolent of prime Barcelona to render this football fruitful on a consistent basis.
Quite.

It would be sustainable IF Arteta bothered to make use of the enormous squad he’s had all season
MLS, Hincapie, Calafiori - have the minutes been shared reasonably there? Bear in mind H+C can both play CB too, but Gabriel’s been in the side all year, and now he looks average?
No MLS taking minutes off Rice
No Norgaard taking minutes off Zubimendi
Etc
Especially when you’re conceding soft goals. Have at least one out left. We will concede against Man city - at least 2. So give yourself a chance of scoring.
It all looks so bad right now. It was that long ago when we were managing to keep teams to barely any touches in our box and 0/1 shots on target a game.
You lot are fucking unbelievable...
Wind it in a bit. What do you actually expect?
You lot are fucking unbelievable...
The whole defending as unit thing was natural and intense for a while. Now it's just done for the sake of it and we struggle with the out.

Got through in the end but that was tough to watch.
I will take an ugly 0-0 draw on Sunday.

I will take an ugly 0-0 draw on Sunday.
My fear is that we look so much more ragged and less assured than the start of the season. I would take the 0-0 this weekend IF we were still doing to teams what we were doing to them in September. But we aren’t and I don’t back us to win every other game

Exactly.. Madrid tonight.. win the ball in midfield - straight into space for either Mbappé or the Brazilian guy. The attack the six yard box and pass.. not this nonsense we see all the time.
Mpappe and Vini, we simply do not have that level of technical quality in the forward line.
It's like when people post old Wenger era videos of Pires, Bergkamp, and Henry. We simply don't have that level of quality, yet our style practically demands it because it's so conservative.
I’m taking about their attack and sporting are not Bayern. Southampton and Bournemouth scored two against us. Let’s not pretend our defence has been solid in the last few months either.
we were an eyesore tonight but conceded 1 shot on target and kept them at arms length.
I don’t love the approach but Madrid can afford to do the ‘give it to the forwards and pray’ approach because they have Mbappe, Vini, Bellingham. We have Trossard, Madueke, Gyokeres.
It’s our own fault our attackers are poor but the manager is clearly choosing to prioritise the areas where we are elite, which isn’t up front. I accept we’ve been crap since the final but it worked tonight albeit ugly to watch
We won. Tonight and tomorrow and Friday, that's all that matters.

We have one forward who has a track record of consistently making the difference at the highest level and he is physically burnt out at the age of 24.
The rest are 'depth' guys. Ain't winning you anything.

I want to see major changes but not sure we should be modelling ourselves on this Madrid team either
It baffles me we don't ask him to dribble through the midfield into the box. He could have won us a penalty

I think he would’ve been better than Noni. I thought Eze played well. I accept that our coaching choices are the main reason why we look sluggish going forward. But you cannot tell me the poor individual quality isn’t a factor too
In a conservative setup like ours you need to rely on individual quality and we don’t have enough of it
I thought he did well tonight, Dowman. Shades is how Saka plays - won a lot of fouls, kept the ball and made some good runs.
It baffles me we don't ask him to dribble through the midfield into the box. He could have won us a penalty
Maybe not make every single outfield player defend deep either then you might have an outlet.
Made me a bit sad seeing Max deep in our half. The excitement he brings will soon be taken out of him.

Yes. He should have stayed, but I worry about Arteta's ability to coach a forward.
His version of what a forward should be flies in the face of over 100 years of football.

Not being worse than them is not going to change our fortunes. This is not about Ethan. It’s about our style of play. No one individual forward this season has “flourished”. Ethan was not going to change that. Was he going to do better than Noni on the right today? I don’t think so? Or better than Eze in the middle? I don’t think so either.

Zubi was fine tonight. Arteta isn't playing Norgaard; we need to accept that now, the season is nearly over.
We will need a signing there in the summer, badly, along with a left winger and an attacking midfielder.

No, Trossard has been fucking dreadful. As someone else said, main character syndrome has become part of his DNA. Crap decision making, not doing the simple things well and losing possession when there's no need to. Fuck him!
This Ethan myth grows by the day. He’s not even getting into the Marseille side but would have been our savior? Come on guys.

There seems to be a trend there alright

We are going to need Zubi fresh on Sunday - boggles the mind that he stayed on the whole game today. Can we really not trust norgaard at all? Even with Rice holding his hand?
Eze was good, trying to go forward and make things happen.
He needs someone to play off.. All of our forward plays seems to be based on individuality. No connections.. no 1-2s.. Marti and Noni always having to beat 3 players and absolutely no one among a run for them.
And if a run is played, it’s ignored. Appalling stuff.
It does sound crazy, but I am curious to see what he does. Because I know what Madueke will do.
Would be complete euphoria if he rouses us out of our slumbe, but truth is he's not ready yet. Defenders seem to have caught on to his patterns now, he's been dispossessed cheaply too many times. Speaking of which, Martinelli after around 65' or so became the most predictable human being in existence. Their defender read him like a book, but he did play well overall.
This Ethan myth grows by the day. He’s not even getting into the Marseille side but would have been our savior? Come on guys.
He scored 9 goals last year...
It certainly hasn't helped.
Injuries have absolutely played their part. But that's on Arteta and how he burns through players.
It's not sustainable.
There seems to be a trend there alright
Bit of a risk though. Pity Ethan wasn't around, would have got a lot more minutes than he's getting at Marseille

Is that what the hot Brazilian said?

Is that what the hot Brazilian said?
Cos he's not been good. Slow to balls, given possession away cheaply and shooting has been wayward.
Eze was good, trying to go forward and make things happen.
It does sound crazy, but I am curious to see what he does. Because I know what Madueke will do.
Bit of a risk though. Pity Ethan wasn't around, would have got a lot more minutes than he's getting at Marseille
If he wins, I'd give him a new contract. It's the pressure from the prospect of "bottling it" that's holding the team back. Win it once, they'll be battle hardened to win it again
I still don’t buy this at all - we aren’t going to become a free flowing attacking side even if we win it - th patterns will be the same and the low quality attackers will be the same. Changes needed
I think that's true. Remember two years ago when it clicked after the Dubai trip. I think a lack of continuity in forward players due to injury has stunted our goalscoring
It certainly hasn't helped.
Injuries have absolutely played their part. But that's on Arteta and how he burns through players.

Qs bad as he's been, I hope that injury to Madueke is nothing more than a knock. Imagine going to City having to start a 16 y.o

Cos he's not been good. Slow to balls, given possession away cheaply and shooting has been wayward.
No one did tonight he and Marti were the best of the worst.
Any joy is severely diluted due to the dreadful performance. There were 73 efforts across the 2 games in the Bayern/Madrid quarter final.

Forgot Madueke but he’s only been here a year and we aren’t ruthless enough to do that
Who would have thought there would be this much discourse having just made the champions league semi final! But, it is well justified
Heh yeah it’s crazy. CL semifinal and top of the league and still feeling like this.
Do you want to see another year of this even if he wins the league?
Even if we do win the league, we need a massive squad refresh or we will look like Liverpool have done this season. I don’t mean just buy a load of shiny new toys, I mean we need to be brutal about shifting some people on first. White, Nelli, Trossard, Jesus, Kepa must all go, Norgaard, Havertz, Odegaard should probably all go as well
If it were up to me I’d keep Havertz and move Gyok on but that won’t happen
If he wins, I'd give him a new contract. It's the pressure from the prospect of "bottling it" that's holding the team back. Win it once, they'll be battle hardened to win it again
No Arteta side played with more freedom that the 22/23 team... and the pressure didn't really kick until something was at stake. It's unquestionable a factor.
Anyway, job done. On to Sunday. Good night!
Be lucky NB
£45m on Madueke. £65m on Gyökeres. That's a fuck of a lot of money on two players who can't pass a ball properly.
Add Havertz and Jesus too. Wouldn’t mind seeing all four out along with one of Martinelli/Trossard
Anyway, job done. On to Sunday. Good night!
Who would have thought there would be this much discourse having just made the champions league semi final! But, it is well justified
Well he has to change things definitely if he stay and we win something this year. Clear out needed in attack.

No-one wants to endure more football of this ilk, though... surely some words would be had if he did stay on.
Do you want to see another year of this even if he wins the league?
I'm definitely embarrassed watching this turgid football. I'm tired of Arteta. But if he wins either trophy, he of course will be staying. And as said below, if he gets us to the CL final he's likely staying as well, though if he loses the league he should go.
If we finished the season with nothing but somehow made the CL final, it would technically show progress lol.
Do you want to see another year of this even if he wins the league?
Well he has to change things definitely if he stay and we win something this year. Clear out needed in attack.
Well, no but I'm trying to be judicious about this...
I don't think there is much more longevity in this. It is absolutely exhausting. Players are breaking down. It's insane.
If we win nothing, he should go... having said that, imagine if we reached a CL final (not improbable imo). Would be harder to justify then.
Yup has to go if we don’t win the league or the CL. Don’t think reaching a final would count with this draw.
If we win nothing, he should go... having said that, imagine if we reached a CL final (not improbable imo). Would be harder to justify then.
CL final is well within reach but my god we need to summon some sort of form. This is as bad an attacking team as I've ever seen from us

Diaz again eh? I think Bayern are going to the final. And if we get there they will be teaching us a football lesson
They’ve just beat Madrid with something like 70% of the ball - the things they would do to us shouldn’t be said out loud
Lot of time between now and a potential CL Final
True, nothing to suggest right now we can beat Atletico
He's done right? Arteta is done?

I don’t think he’s become a worse coach but the squad building has been poor (which btw he has to take huge responsibility for) and now we have one of the worst attacks in Europe
I was really looking forward to catching extra time in the other tie to cleanse my eyes but that prick Diaz has won it

Nb you have to admit they've given him no reason to trust their judgement. Most of the squad has been utterly wank, no quality except in the work rate and defense. I'd be bursting a testicle too of I were in his place

right after a Madrid red... whoopsie
and another goal, looks like
They look terrified of being bold. I know Trossard has been shit, but the way Arteta screamed at him was ridiculous. He had a chance a minute later to turn and shoot and he passed back instead. That'...
Trossard lost that cheaply. Make a fucking chance or take it to the corner. Deserved to be yelled at for that sloppy decision.
The Norf Larndan Forevvvaaaa soppy bollocks nonsense
I like it but can’t be playing it at FT after that eyesore
Anyway, if we save one good performance for Sunday, I'll take that. Semi-final against Atletico, very possible we get to a final.
Honestly, nobody wants to see another year of this. Diabolical football.
They look terrified of being bold. I know Trossard has been shit, but the way Arteta screamed at him was ridiculous. He had a chance a minute later to turn and shoot and he passed back instead. That's a result of being screamed at by a demented schoolmaster.
The Norf Larndan Forevvvaaaa soppy bollocks nonsense
How's the crowd cheering man?
We are getting violated on Sunday.
3-0 if we're lucky, 6 if they're up for it
I wish the entire team would go against Arteta's safety first tactics and unshackle themselves.
What's he gonna do? Bench all of them for disobedience?
He'll have the speakers out at London Colney with Blue Moon blaring.
I was really looking forward to catching extra time in the other tie to cleanse my eyes but that prick Diaz has won it
Yep. I felt the heat from my screen
Bayern vs PSG
Arsenal vs Atletico
LMAO neutrals will be watching us I'm sure
Dreading the World Cup. None of our gassed players will get a break to recuperate.
I wish the entire team would go against Arteta's safety first tactics and unshackle themselves.
What's he gonna do? Bench all of them for disobedience?
We are getting violated on Sunday.
Great, we are through. We won't be going any further and that's yet more proof we are incapable of offering anything more, we have no chance against City
Record breaking Arteta! Two CL semi finals in a row.
not by Atletico. they don't pump anyone... except Sp*rs, obviously.
That performance will give us a good confidence boost for Sunday
Of all the times we've gone short on corners lately... and Rice decides to go back post and out for a goal kick.
Trossard breaks and loses the ball.
WTF are we doing.
Quite literally cancerous... and it has metastasised to the point that it looks terminal.
No
Performance terrible. Again
Injury again
Honestly, nobody wants to see another year of this. Diabolical football.
Said we'd go through... but this football is cancerous.
Well we’re through i suppose
We'll get pumped.
Fuck watching the "reaction" to that bollcoks
Piss fucking poor yet again
Well we’re through i suppose
Mosquera and Hincapié have been the difference for us tonight. Both excellent
Defensively sure. May as well have two fucking mannequins going forward instead.
Main character syndrome twat.
Borges looks like he's going fishing after this
Fucking idiot Trossard. My god does that guy overestimate his ability.
Mosquera and Hincapié have been the difference for us tonight. Both excellent
Ah well... thank god for highlights.
None from this game.
Slegers and her team are just as animated on the sideline. I think the players have just got bored of Arteta.
Ah well... thank god for highlights.
Really? Simple tactics: bore the opponent to sleep, nick a goal
,😁
The worst set of Rice corners tonight
WTF is wrong with Rice's corners tonight?
Crawling towards the line.
Cheers
I can't bear to watch
Demented Arteta on the touchline
He needs to sit down.. he’s fear and control so part of the reason the team are so bad. He should just settle down and trust them.
Crawling towards the line.
Demented Arteta on the touchline
Sick of the sight of him.
Demented Arteta on the touchline
He's not helping
If we play like this against City...
Arsenal v Atletico should come with an 18 rating and a health warning.
Tiredness kills signs should be erected around Islington arterial roads.
Sporting are nothing exceptional. Created a few moments of menace but defence has mostly strongarmed them.
But we’ve been so bad.. against an average opponent. No confidence at all.
Demented Arteta on the touchline
I don't understand our attacking play
Really? Simple tactics: bore the opponent to sleep, nick a goal
Arsenal v Atletico should come with an 18 rating and a health warning.
Can that go to ET? I'd like to see some football.
This might yet
Can that go to ET? I'd like to see some football.
Yes no away goals remember
Can that go to ET? I'd like to see some football.
Yes
Sporting are nothing exceptional. Created a few moments of menace but defence has mostly strongarmed them.
Nearly gave it to them on a plate with poor distribution at the back.
Can that go to ET? I'd like to see some football.
Sporting are nothing exceptional. Created a few moments of menace but defence has mostly strongarmed them.
I think it's a bit much to ask a 16 year old to cover everywhere. Let him enjoy his football for a bit at least
I don't understand our attacking play
Pull it pack and that's all he had to do. Great run though.
Exactly…. Just pull it back..
Are we that allergic to getting in the box?
Arteta screaming at Tross who just ignores him
Good on Trossard
Arteta screaming at Tross who just ignores him
I'd ignore him tbh
Arteta screaming at Tross who just ignores him
The Igor Tudor treatment?
Arteta screaming at Tross who just ignores him
Must suck playing on that side.
Another game that gets taken to the bitter end giving the manager zero chance to rest legs.
Arteta screaming at Tross who just ignores him
Imagine shooting from there. What a useless cunt!
I flagged his suspect finishing two months after we signed him and got stacks lol
Why did Zubi decide to put concrete in his boots?
Except the shot from an impossible angle
Havertz runs then slows down to pass back.
Imagine shooting from there. What a useless cunt!
Pull it pack and that's all he had to do. Great run though.
how can you hit side netting from there
Imagine shooting from there. What a useless cunt!
Strong point deciding he can finish from an impossible angle.
Imagine if we ended up on the other side of the draw😱?
Open goal for Jesus there. Feck
How do we always get defensive players in the box.
It's been dais for a while. We urgently need an upgrade on the left
Been saying that for three years, now.
Think we deserve this to be fair
We're fucking gunk to watch. It's not opposition fans looking for yet an excuse to prick... it's the truth.
Don't think I've ever seen a team at this level make football look so difficult.
It's been dais for a while. We urgently need an upgrade on the left
Other QF is going to be like ambrosia after being given a swirly.
I just want Max to score so he can shatter that youngest-scorer record too.
Would be something to smile about!
Hincapie with a pass to Trossard that says pass it backwards
I just want Max to score so he can shatter that youngest-scorer record too.
Level on aggregate but Bayern enjoying 70% possession wow
Need to keep our heads now
heh, for foul accumulation of 20 fouls over two legs?
Amazing init
Oh good that cunt got a card for once!
heh, for foul accumulation of 20 fouls over two legs?
Trossard and Jesus. Where goals go to die.
To be fair there is just as good a chance to get something out of these two than anybody right now.
It's that bad.
Great work from Dowman there.
Trossard and Jesus. Where goals go to die.
Arsenal FC, where goals go to die
Oh good that cunt got a card for once!
Trossard and Jesus. Where goals go to die.
He looked to extemporaneous and free. Scared the players.
The all ran like they didn’t want to get the ball.
Why the fuck is he taking Eze off??
and Martinelli our two best tonight.
I want to slap the shit out of most of our players man. They have zero composure.
That's good the ten fouls last week. Prick
Why did everyone run away from Dowman
He's progressing with the ball!! Witchhhhhhh!
Jesus a player that stunk up the place against a league one side to save us.
is this us accepting the draw?
Why did everyone run away from Dowman
He looked to extemporaneous and free. Scared the players.
Why the fuck is he taking Eze off??
No and this is my confusion. Even if you’re not coached.. it’s simple stuff
Feels tactical or mentality related.
Do professional footballers need to be taught to move off the ball?
No and this is my confusion. Even if you’re not coached.. it’s simple stuff
Why did everyone run away from Dowman
This ref is a fucking twat. Only redeeming thing about him is he hasn't fallen for the blatàt cheating attempts and dives in the box by Araujo cunt
Stupid ref, no foul there
Not even close. Very poor. Great corner from Max.
Ref needs to go specsavers
But it’s basic stuff that can be coached no? I don’t get it. I honestly don’t.
Do professional footballers need to be taught to move off the ball?
It's the off the ball movement. We are flat footed and scared to run forward.
But it’s basic stuff that can be coached no? I don’t get it. I honestly don’t.
Stupid ref, no foul there
Did you read the 'I have no issue if he's sold' part?!
Sorry. No issues if he is sold indeed
Can anyone actually recall a top team that has looked this offensively stilted? It is actually quite something to behold.
You have to go back to some of the 90s Series A teams like the Milan who scored 36 in 34 games and won the league.
But that was entirely intentional. I think this is just incompetence.
Oh fuck. Is Jesus coming on?
He is the highest paid player at the club and cost 65 million
Did you read the 'I have no issue if he's sold' part?!
When we have a player running with the ball.. we never seem to know how or where to run to get through on goal. Who was making a run for Eze there?
It's the off the ball movement. We are flat footed and scared to run forward.
This team has no goal-scoring nous. They badly need coaching because they don't have a clue.
At his best - in this system - he is... but I have no issue if he's sold.
He is the highest paid player at the club and cost 65 million
This is dire
I'm dreading Sunday
Mauling
This is dire
I'm dreading Sunday
We're gonna get pasted
Any chance of a decent one
Corner. The stadium erupts

When we have a player running with the ball.. we never seem to know how or where to run to get through on goal. Who was making a run for Eze there?
You know it's bad when jesus is coming on
Oh no
At his best - in this system - he is... but I have no issue if he's sold.
"at his best" is like 7% of his time at Arsenal
You know it's bad when jesus is coming on
These full back choices btw for a team who can't play out lol
I cannot believe how fucking bad we are! 😭
It's a tall fucking order to argue that Kai is more effective than Gyok. I don't care how more technical Kai may be.
At his best - in this system - he is... but I have no issue if he's sold.
The goals coming and its going to be so deflating
It's a tall fucking order to argue that Kai is more effective than Gyok. I don't care how more technical Kai may be.
Really makes no difference who we have there. The team doesn't know how to play with a centre forward.
Nope!
Is Thomas Grønnemark still with us?
Wasn't he part time?
No idea, Mike
Havertz has disappeared into a Gyok shaped hole
Really makes no difference who we have there. The team doesn't know how to play with a centre forward.
Second to everything yet again.
Throw-ins fuckin awful again.
Is Thomas Grønnemark still with us?
Wasn't he part time?
I think I'll just have an edible around 14:30 on Sunday, should kick in by 16:30
That was almost like Seaman to Smith to Wright
Lol Eze... I assumed that was Madueke before I saw the red streaks.
Havertz has disappeared into a Gyok shaped hole
Comedy. Didn't we recruit a throw in coach!
Yeah but his background is in rugby union
Throw-ins fuckin awful again.
Comedy. Didn't we recruit a throw in coach!
Hincapie getting a bonus for that throw
Arteta has reached the end of the road.
Booked now.
Arteta has reached the end of the road.
I think everyone in the stadium knew what Martinelli was going to do
Lay that off to Madueke, Zubimendi. My goodness...
Should be purring like supercharged V8 and it's like a sputtering old Morris Minor.
Saliba cant find a pass tonsave his life
Maybe we're looking at this match from the wrong perspective; we should be asking why Sporting hasn't scored against us yet with such a dire performance
Saliba never plays it forward quick
Issues with the team look terminal for this season... but I'd much rather watch us in this competition than the PL.
Minimal contact but body language is horrendous.
Hardly touched him
They've been cheating throughout the game
The lack of movement is shocking.
Maybe our players need to roll around screaming and waving their arms to win a foul.
Minimal contact but body language is horrendous.
What is Mosquera doing... man.
Crazy!!
What is Mosquera doing... man.
That looked like a peanlty to sporting
Four massive mistakes in two matches
Are you saying back to Kepa? 😊
This season is so done. This team is playing like a relegation level team and has down for much of this season.
Four massive mistakes in two matches
I feel sorry for the match going fans. Such high tickets and absolutely nothing to cheer for
Gone up as well!
So has silver and red
FUCK OFF RAYA YA PRICK!!!!
Chill out
FUCK OFF RAYA YA PRICK!!!!
I feel sorry for the match going fans. Such high tickets and absolutely nothing to cheer for
Heineken telling Aryeta in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want olives on his pizza.
Heinze!!!
Heineken telling Aryeta in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want olives on his pizza.
Max on. Will he start against city?
I wouldn't scar the kid like that.
Madueke down — should have been a free kick instead Sporting have a corner.
Dowman on ... every cloud ...
Max on. Will he start against city?
He has to. Age is irrelevant at this point.
Max on. Will he start against city?
Will have to
Max on. Will he start against city?
He will Noni is banjaxed.
Max on. Will he start against city?
He might have to
Max on. Will he start against city?
That cunt heinze beans can fuck off.
Madueke down — should have been a free kick instead Sporting have a corner.
Fucks sake, another ducking injury
Yeah looks like he is hurt
Watching this is like chewing tin foil when you have cavities
Madueke on six figures I think.
just realised the prospect of extra time. Oh boy lol
Zubi getting better, defensively at least
I fear there is a dagger to the heart coming
The wage difference is enormous. I ain't excusing Noni he is bad, should have just kept Nwaneri but he and Semenyo on different levels in terms of cost.
Can acknowledge that but not sure Madueke is on peanuts here.
Wow so fucking easy for Sporting moving forward.
I know we weren't looking to best Saka but fucking hell... Semenyo wouldn't have cost drastically more.
The wage difference is enormous. I ain't excusing Noni he is bad, should have just kept Nwaneri but he and Semenyo on different levels in terms of cost.
Need to keep this pressure up for the next 35 mins
Why did he back off and not run forward
It's hard to like the guy. Talented but so, so empty headed.
Better than not trying it..
Good run but as always nothing to show for it
Did the hard part well
I know we weren't looking to best Saka but fucking hell... Semenyo wouldn't have cost drastically more.
FFS leave it too Martinelli
Good run but as always nothing to show for it
Is it a good thing or bad thing?
Not bad because he's playing 9.
Right decision. Gyökeres has been especially poor tonight
Yep
Right decision. Gyökeres has been especially poor tonight
FFS leave it too Martinelli
Lay that off for Martinelli. Fucking hell.
Is it a good thing or bad thing?
Dreadful pass from Zubimendi. Cannot excuse that.
Pass master apparently
I honestly thought Arsenal would play better tonight than they did on Saturday.......wtf was I thinking!!??
It's just so ingrained at this point
Dreadful pass from Zubimendi. Cannot excuse that.
I honestly thought Arsenal would play better tonight than they did on Saturday.......wtf was I thinking!!??
Gyokeres with the thankless job of pressing alone
Gilet man looks pretty happy with things, don't blame him
Zubimendi is like a traffic cone in the middle
That RYM match looks most intriguing. Stupid loyalty.
Remember when we could take a corner
I almost shouted do not give the ball to Madueke
He's not that bad tbf. Just needs someone to combine with
I almost shouted do not give the ball to Madueke
Unlucky Eze. Growing into it… and looking the most exciting player on the pitch.
Had time to get it on target though
What do they say in the huddle?
Was just going to say - even those are probably choreographed.
Relax, once we concede, we suddenly play with more urgency.
Oh fuck off ref! hands grabbing gyok
What do they say in the huddle?
As we were at the end of the first half. Team is truly at an impasse.
We just make everything seem so difficult and tiring.
It really doesn't need to be, and it's like this on purpose.
Dare I say if this goes to 1-1 I think we'll be fucked.
That's stating the obvious
Saw kepa and lost my appetite
Oh fuck off Gyok I can't defend that shit!
Dare I say if this goes to 1-1 I think we'll be fucked.
I cannot believe that the players are this bad, it has to do with tactical approach or too many coaches spoiling the broth so to speak.
I was thinking to myself the other day; apart from Odegaard slipping in Zubimendi one on one against Villa at the Emirates, anyone else remember another through ball this season?
All I remember is wi...
The Martinelli one last week, but yeah, another thing we rarely do.
I was thinking to myself the other day; apart from Odegaard slipping in Zubimendi one on one against Villa at the Emirates, anyone else remember another through ball this season?
All I remember is wi...
I don't remember either!
wing play and cutbacks against a box loaded with defenders.
Indeed, looked solid for most of it. But rusty due to never getting game time, like so many others.
I was thinking to myself the other day; apart from Odegaard slipping in Zubimendi one on one against Villa at the Emirates, anyone else remember another through ball this season?
All I remember is wing plays and cutbacks. Now our wingers look clueless, the entire attack is non existent
Can't remember the last time I saw one of our players run onto a through ball.
It's always straight to feet and never into space.
Maybe a confidence thing. We never get an early goal to calm ourselves and play football.
Remember when the right winger would run with the ball and attack the fullback instead of just standing there and then passing it back into midfield where it had just come from.
That's why Saka was so good. Dowman will do the same. Madueke doesn't seem capable.
Maybe so but he should've been good enough to play in CL group games and against bottom half teams
I agree… but the lack of game time is tacit acknowledgement from Arteta that he got it wrong… and history tells us that loves a veteran, workmanlike CDM.
Apparently Neur made a mistake for Real's opening goal. Also, the BBC commentary describes both sets of full backs as abandoning defending. Why Bayern have been so gung-ho when they had a 2-1 lead is a mystery. Similar to us nearly getting caught on the break unnecessarily from our free kick cos we stupidly pushed everyone up. Thankfully Martinelli's pace saved us.
Yeah, but Arteta will be happy because we're winning the tie!
This… constant ball to feet. Everyone takes 3 touches, no one touch passes, no cross. The full backs are useless in the final third.
Not one cross.. how is that possible?

So frustrating that
Nørgaard signing was totally borne out of convenience (one of several that Arteta pushed for). A younger profile would have made more sense.
Maybe so but he should've been good enough to play in CL group games and against bottom half teams

Yes, we can’t make the ball do the work. Madueke receives and his second touch is always so stunted, no vision, no creativity. Just rubbish tbh

Not one cross.. how is that possible?
'member when we could press?
On top of watching this dire shite I now have to endure Carragher and Richards ffs
Serves us right for refusing to use Norgaard all through the season when he has looked competent each time he came on
True. ran Timber into the ground as well. Every season same story.
Best going out tonight this team will get pumped going forward
Remember when we had Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla and we could play around teams
Rice didn’t play for a whole month no? I mean, he should be recovered. The problem is that we’re doing a lot of running and going nowhere.

Good point. Most of the players playing should be fresh.
Artetas legacy will be leaving numerous blokes in and around their physical prime, burnt out and broken.
It's fucking mad.
It does seem that way. You could maybe excuse it if there were obvious rewards.
As it is, he's destroying them for nothing.
Serves us right for refusing to use Norgaard all through the season when he has looked competent each time he came on
Indeed, looked solid for most of it. But rusty due to never getting game time, like so many others.
We have no one to pass to, front three one worse than the other. It invites pressure. Madueke saw loads of the ball, failed every dribble
Just watch the bayern game it's fun
Artetas legacy will be leaving numerous blokes in and around their physical prime, burnt out and broken.
It's fucking mad.
Think we were skirting FFP restrictions but heading into 24/25 with only six proper midfielders including Nwaneri and injured Ødegaard doesn’t get nearly the heat that it should.
Rice didn’t play for a whole month no? I mean, he should be recovered. The problem is that we’re doing a lot of running and going nowhere.
Yes. Good for 5 mins, like the city game, then, we got figured out. Can't handle the tight press

Artetas legacy will be leaving numerous blokes in and around their physical prime, burnt out and broken.
It's fucking mad.
Yep. He's done it to too many.
Rice was chasing everything earlier in the season, but played into the ground.
There is no doubt Rice and Zubi are wrecked. Totally overplayed. No pace or energy to their play.
I know. Madness. But our first thought is to go backwards from the halfway line.
Fuck Raya. He can see what's in front of him yet time and time again he does that. No fucking wonder we're so jittery at the back. As Bolassie analysed so well, why are we willing to take so many risks in and around our own box but are so conservative when we get to the opposition box?
The two midfielders are physically broken. They cannot press anymore.
Serves us right for refusing to use Norgaard all through the season when he has looked competent each time he came on

I’ve seen more fire on a sparkler
Is Norgaard so bad he can’t be playing ahead of this version of Zubi?
The two midfielders are physically broken. They cannot press anymore.
Rice can't run anymore.
What the Hell are we doing in training?
This is exactly the same shit we've seen before.
5 mins of bluster and then the usual shite
Maybe a deflected cross by zubi which the goalie easily caught.
How the hell did we turn so bad at passing and shooting
This team is not beating city at the Etihad. Our pressing look childish.
It's a matter of how many they fancy.
This team is not beating city at the Etihad. Our pressing look childish.
The two midfielders are physically broken. They cannot press anymore.
Get Dowman on for Madueke now. Give the kid 45mins. Madueke’s done nothing
We are playing for a draw aren’t we.
We’re playing something but it’s not football
This team is not beating city at the Etihad. Our pressing look childish.
Wow, what a game that must be
Worthy of a final. Unlike this shit fest
Martinelli the only one looking likely to do something
Jeez.
We are getting opened up far too easily.
Same problem as with Bournemouth and City games - totally unaware of movement by Sporting
Embarrassing.
We are playing for a draw aren’t we.
Certainly don’t deserve more atm.
We are playing for a draw aren’t we.
Don't see how when they're able to open us up when they come forward.
Zubimendi just does not have the profile to play this deep… the football is so painfully laboured and stultifying.
He's a third option in the two. Nowhere near good enough.
A lot of effort for so little reward with this team. No wonder there is a constant roll call of injuries.
Get Iraola, he's quitting Bournemouth at the end of the season
Going to Bilbao
Fucking win one duel Gyokeres
We are playing for a draw aren’t we.
Zubimendi just does not have the profile to play this deep… the football is so painfully laboured and stultifying.
Sporting are fighting for everything
Wow, what a game that must be
Attacking intent.. No sterile possession. Midfield wins the ball, passes forward, wingers attack the six yard box, runners ahead, pass and shoot.
Have we had a shot on target?
Nope.
Jeez.
We are getting opened up far too easily.
Same problem as with Bournemouth and City games - totally unaware of movement by Sporting
Off to Bilbao
This lot against Bayern/Real or PSG 🤮
Have we had a shot on target?
Jeez.
We are getting opened up far too easily.
Same problem as with Bournemouth and City games - totally unaware of movement by Sporting
Get Iraola, he's quitting Bournemouth at the end of the season
This team is not changing. Rinse and fucking repeat. 5 minutes of ambition and the rest has been shit
Wow, what a game that must be
Think the added onus on Raya to break an opposition line has been heightened recently… which is probably what’s leading to these errors. This notion of waiting for the precise moment to take risks…
Sporting hit the base of the post…
Should have been level in the tie. This is some cowardly football from us
Might switch over to BM v RL
Only Arsenal fans can suffer when their player of the season has the ball at his feet. Raya
This number 10 is one diving cunt
How the fuck is that a free kick?
Oh wow ball over the top does us again
Sporting hit the base of the post…
Other match has for goals already
This number 10 is one diving cunt
They sporting player was right in front of him FFS!
I know. Madness. But our first thought is to go backwards from the halfway line.
Take all the chances in the world near your goal. Take fuck all in the middle and final third.
When the fuck are they going to learn?? Suicidal.
They sporting player was right in front of him FFS!
As far as our attack, getting into some decent positions but little end product or synergy. Would be interesting to place a roving buffer around these players and see how much they’re varying the positions they pick up.
Jeez. Just seen Raya's pass.
Three in two matches
Fucking hell Raya. This looks like Bournemouth all over again. It’s coming.
Get Dowman on asap
Fucking honestly, this team. Fucking gutless the lot of them
We need to find a way to beat this press
When the fuck are they going to learn?? Suicidal.
I really don't understand our front three line up. We could easily bring on Madueke when the Sporting players tire.
What options do we have?
They are most dangerous when we have the ball at the back. Shocking.
Raya's customary fuck up!
Too one dimensional. Not enough craft.
I really don't understand our front three line up. We could easily bring on Madueke when the Sporting players tire.
Mik is happy to hold out and win 1-0
Very dangerous thing to do
I think it's to lull city into a false sense of security
Zubi playing as winger now?
Mik is happy to hold out and win 1-0
Remember when we used to control games
Been a long time, fading away.
Madueke hugging the touchline again. Has no chance when he receives the ball. Should be running in behind but I think it's by instruction.
It’s what he does or rather doesn’t do on the ball that’s the problem
Remember when we used to control games
Back in the day when we looked comfortable on the ball.
5-10 minutes of quicker football and that was our lot.
Remember when we used to control games
Good option on the left was my favourite toxic positivity lie about Noni
Madueke hugging the touchline again. Has no chance when he receives the ball. Should be running in behind but I think it's by instruction.
I agree, unless we concede then he will go around him
Madueke hugging the touchline again. Has no chance when he receives the ball. Should be running in behind but I think it's by instruction.
Thinking of what I can do to avoid watching the game
Great run by Nelli. He can skin their RB all day
Certainly odd to ostracise Nwaneri when you’ve purchased a player who’s arguably even looser in possession and chancy.
It’s not like he was new to the league. We all have seen him play for Chelsea
Can‘t believe how shite we are
Madueke ruins every chance
I won't be able to bring myself to watch Sunday
This
Would rather have seen Ethen given minutes over no-hoper Noni.
Certainly odd to ostracise Nwaneri when you’ve purchased a player who’s arguably even looser in possession and chancy.
Portuguese Primarni on the touchline again.
I won't be able to bring myself to watch Sunday
What has happened? Been riding our luck for too long?
Would rather have seen Ethen given minutes over no-hoper Noni.
Can‘t believe how shite we are
Sadly I can.
Can‘t believe how shite we are
I'm dreading Sunday

Fucking shoot you shy pack of cunts!
Should be the new chant
Fucking shoot you shy pack of cunts!
Why is Rice going so hich and long with the corners? To hit Zubi??
My UHD and FD streams are 2 mins behind the normal HD stream....
Great ball by Eze there. Gyökeres could have done better.
Maybe swap 'could' for 'should'
Great ball by Eze there. Gyökeres could have done better.
Good block to be fair
Great ball by Eze there. Gyökeres could have done better.
Eze loses the ball sometimes but makes these good passes. Have to get him involved
Great ball by Eze there. Gyökeres could have done better.
Have to Agree with McCoist
Great ball by Eze there. Gyökeres could have done better.
Decent movement for once.
Great ball by Eze there. Gyökeres could have done better.
We are carrying so many broken bodies. Rice and Zubi just physically cannot get involved. What the fuck do they do with these blokes in training?
Zubi had a great chance there to pass forward
Then you have Arteta on the side lines with his constant moronic over coaching.
Just fucking let the players be.... You gave them tactics and instructions, sit the fuck down man!
They passed through us very well just then
Very crisp passes.
Not very good free kicks so far
My stream is behind. Madueke free kick up to the standard of others in this match
5 minutes of actual attacking football, now reverted back to the usual crap
Doing it the hard way is in our dna
They passed through us very well just then
5 minutes of actual attacking football, now reverted back to the usual crap
Rice has stopped getting involved in pressing, just stays back now
Not very good free kicks so far
The rolling around by Sprtimg players is really passing me off
How can they not see it?
Why are we so sapped off confidence?!
Passes have become weak and lack any conviction.
Ref wants to see some goals
I don’t agree. Flashes of what he can do
Passing range not quite there yet and lost possession a few times.
It has to come up in conversation, training?
How can they not see it?

Eze looking way off it so far.
I don’t agree. Flashes of what he can do
Zubi putting some notable effort in
Eze looking way off it so far.
Got Jesus falling over disease
Eze looking way off it so far.
What you won't get from Dowman, Trossard or Noni.
That free kick was moronic.
Madueke is really rubbish
Yes but what a shit free kick
I know! Absolutely pathetic!
Yes but what a shit free kick
Fuck off with these backward passing!
Does everyones head in except Artetas
Fuck off with these backward passing!
It has to come up in conversation, training?
Fuck off with these backward passing!
Both Rice and Zubi so deep is unnecessary I think
This is the same shit football as Saturday I’m sorry
There's no way Arteta was going to change anything at this stage.
This is the same shit football as Saturday I’m sorry
Approach play ok but front three just can’t do much with it. It invites pressure
Taking forever on the ball yet again!
Our front three are really quite average.
Gyökeres shot high something at least
Should have been on target

Maybe that's why we go backwards.
hmmmm
Maybe that's why we go backwards.

Jesus Saliba. What was that
A pass to them
Jesus Saliba. What was that
Can't Madueke keep the ball!!
The forward play lasted all of 10 minutes.
Taking endless risks in our own penalty box. Jeez!
No conviction in the passing. Cmon wake up
Default setting then Raya just hoos it.
Was that Saliba with the pass that nearly caused trouble?
Unlucky there Zubi, decent ball
Yup at least he tried
Unlucky there Zubi, decent ball
Default setting then Raya just hoos it.
Why the fuck is Zubi stretching for every ball?! FFS!
Even his own players want him to get the fuck up
Embarrassing
To be fair his leg is broken in half by Hincapie
He can walk it off. :D
Even his own players want him to get the fuck up

Well done Hincapie I thought ya got done there.
No idea, had him on toast, run towards the goal FFS.
I've had to mute TNT again to save my ears grom assault.
Shame because I can't easily recognise most of the Sporting players, but needs must.
Could always try and sync up with the radio or
Arsenal.comAt least there is more energy. Bournemouth, collectively, ran more than 5km than Arsenal at the weekend.

Corner was a less than decent.
We've really dropped off in that respect.
Corner was a less than decent.
Yup. Started on the front foot. Even Zubi passing forward
Passing is off. Tackling better
A bit of passing between the centre backs now. Have to give the ball to Eze quick
Real 1-0 , gift from Neuer
Passing is off. Tackling better
Wonder if that cunt will get booked today
Would have liked to see Eze shoot.
Nice run from Eze, Gyok not in sync
This. It is the club heritage. Fire blanks, obviously. :-P
Obviously!
Save the live rounds for special occasions :D
An early goal would be nice
We're off! in my stream...
I've always wondered why they don't fire cannons instead of those firework things.

Yeah... that was bit dark.
When he goes he can always get a job with willie mullins.
Ooooh... : (
That's not very Arteta. Flogging a dead horse is more his style. I'm just hoping Eze is inspired and Maduek can try and keep the ball in play. For the rest it's about defending well.
Hopefully, one of the coaches will have told him he only has to beat his man once, no need for the constant cutbacks.
Does anyone have a link to a reliable stream? Thanks so much!

Arteta says "lessons learnt" I wish I could believe that.
I think he was talking about not drinking 10 pints of Guinness on an empty stomach.
We are not having a possession-based game with the front three tonight. I have difficulty seeing any of them retaining the ball. One or two of our midfield are going to have to play high up the pitch ...
Noni brace tonight NB ;-)
Let it be!

Hopefully, he'll swap Rice and Zubi around instead of spamming the same system, hoping it will work eventually.

That back 6 is monstrous : Raya, Saliba, Gabi XL, Hincapie, Mosquera, Rice. Zubimendi to a lesser degree. Imagine the corners, with Gyokeres and/or at some point Havertz. God have mercy!

We've got a lot of pace but very little control. To me, that means a long ball game.
Buckle up
Hope I'm wrong
Didn't even bother to head down to my bro's. Everyone pretty demoralised. I'm glad Hincapiés back. Eze starting hopefully makes a difference. Sad to not see Dowman there so gonna have to hope the first team does its job because there's not much excitement coming from the bench. We need a bit of luck to get through tonight. I don't think it'll be easy at all.

Brutal 😂
at this point in the competition it's really only at most three more matches, the third of which wouldn't happen until everything else was done and dusted.
Fair enough but the fear is that we'd be dropping like flies in the meantime..

Achilles issues are an arse (not talking of ruptures, a different thing).
No one wants to be around when an arse ruptures.
There is no world in which going out right now would be positive. We need to win games and build confidence and fluency.

Jesus lol
And if they got 4-2-4 and say 'play through us'?
This is my worry now. There is a blueprint.
It will be vital for us to tolerate the jeoperdy in receiving under pressure, and not getting rid right away. At least sometimes, otherwise we will be ceding all the control away.
And then when we try to bypass the middle with long kicks, we really have to commit to it. There's gotta be a sign we're going long so everyone crouds the area between halfway and 18 yard line. No more panicked hoofs towards a stranded Gyok with 4 defenders to fight off.
Anyway, he'll most likely drop a selfie from his hospital bed next.

Soiled pants are more likely.
Happy to follow through as long as we get through.
Biggest issue was not having the courage to play the pass and sitting too deep in midfield so winning the second ball was nearly impossible.
Change those things and we can play through any formation.
to be fair, that day many passes thru that we did try were not coming off. Even the reliable Big Gabby had a horror show with his attempted passes into midfield constantly turning into give-aways. I think that was partly why we got progressively more afraid to try it as the match went on.

"raging semi" is kind of an oxymoron. Post-game I don't want a semi, I want a rager that blows the buttons off my pants.
The passes are still there regardless even if they are playing a front four. We just have to show the courage to play the pass.
yeah, it did feel like that front-4 tactic from ¢115eh was specifically targeting a Kepa deficiency. Raya wouldn't get impatient like that and would just stand there with the ball for however long he needed to.

Partey was like this. While he was capable of the odd thunderblast into the top corner he was far more likely to send it to the parking lot... but when space opened up we still screamed for him to shoot.

Yep. Once Martinelli is behind the opponent's defence, there's no catching him. If we're not going to take advantage of his speed, there's no point.
I'm feeling pretty good about today. My trepidation is reserved for the weekend.
I said we'd win last night... but I wouldn't be surprised if I copped a 'fuck off down the lane' if expressed dismay at a loss.
We do need to play balls in behind more for Martinelli and Gyok. The latter isn't blazingly fast, but usually does OK and is a generally good finisher. He missed out on a goal in the last match by a pretty tiny offside margin. Havertz too is an option on that front.

I'm feeling pretty good about today. My trepidation is reserved for the weekend.

"if we end up with nothing"
If we end up with nothing it probably means the dreaded ¢115eh domestic treble has come to fruition. We MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN, for the good of the game.
The list of trophies won by City, Chelsea, Liverpool, United and Spurs since Arsenal last won one, is quite depressing.
Time to put that right this season.

If that were the case there would be more unsold blue dots but there are hardly any. Pretty much sold out but just barely, so in terms of supply and demand it seems like they priced it exactly right.
There's too much 'shut up... you're shit right now' and not enough 'well, why aren't we doing better ourselves'. Club has seen such little silverware in recent times that I've lost count of the clubs we've mugged off for all manner of slip ups or declines.
I agree, fuck 'em all, but the only supporters that should have anything to say about us finishing second are the ones whose team(s) finished first.
Tottenham feels like an extreme given their current plight... but all of the other clubs have seen more trophies in recent years than we have. Arsenal fans have thrown plenty of stones in glass houses themselves.

To be more honest than I should be, at this point I don't have a ton of faith in us winning that game. I'll be overjoyed if we take anything from it. A win would be massive, a draw acceptable, but a loss would be a death knell

> United have just played their shortest season in 111 years. No European football. Knocked out of every cup in round 1. The only club to gift Tottenham a trophy in the past 20 years.
> Chelsea sacked their cup winning manager, for some BlueCo ‘company man’ fraud that’s just lost 3 on the trot in the hunt for Europe. Half of their best players just went on a mid-season press run criticising the club and flirting with Madrid. Looking set for another season in the Europa Conference League. Seems fitting for a manager of Roseniors calibre.
>Liverpool spent 500m and somehow got worse. Officially the worst Premier League title defence of all time. Had Slot criticise the rest of the league for being ‘anti-football’ and then adopted the very same tactics weeks later because he ironically couldn’t ‘buy’ a win. Salah’s leaving. Robertson’s leaving. But hey, if FSG want another season of Slot ball, at least he might win you a Europa League.
> and Tottenham… I don’t even need to explain it. But I will. Won a cup. Instantly sacked the man that did it. Hired 3 different managers. Fans didn’t want any of them. All have failed miserably. No wins since December. Now 18th in the league. Spent 2 years fighting relegation. Medical staff working against them. Romero is somehow their captain, yet he actively tries to get sent off every game. Genuinely embarrassing.
So actually when I think about it. No wonder you lot just end up supporting Man City every week. Despite the fact that they are the most fraudulent team in the league, still facing 115 charges, and they dunk on your team at every given opportunity. I guess anything is better than supporting your own washed club. 👍

Lots of big games this weekend. Chelsea - United, Everton - Liverpool, and our game.
Gyokeres doesn't do those things either. What Martinelli has on his side is that he's fucking quick!
In the first leg, it was a great spot my Martinelli to find Havertz for the goal. Note that he had dribbled in from the wing and made the pass from a more central position. If we're going to play him wide he must be encouraged to come inside more. Maybe he's more dangerous away from the touchline.
We don't create enough to have Martinelli as CF. The way we use our CFs, we want them to drop deep, bully defenders physically, win headers, hold up the ball and link up play... Martinelli cannot do a...

Sporting will be missing their main striker after the yellow he got in the 1st leg. Think Nuno Santos is likely to replace him. Seemed to have a good shot on him vs Bodo Glimt. Long range shots is my only concern with Sporting, especially after that halfway line goal a few years back.
I'd like to see our LB completely shut down their right winger Catamo much better than last time. He's really limited as a winger and we really ought to nullify him better. Don't know whether they'll get Hjulmland back, Gyok's sscandi friend. He's like a more limited and defensive Rice, would be better for us if he was sidelined

That is the only tactic, which is why teams have figured it out; there is zero variation in this team.
Hopefully Madueke uses this as an opportunity to step up another level and be more effective.
This! I wish he would let fly with shots when he cuts in rather than check back and check back again as he does. Some of them may lead to air traffic control warning pilots to take evasive manoeuvres, but one or two might go into the top corner as he did against Club Brugge.
Wonder how bad the situation is with Saka.

Fucking doomers this morning. It's Sporting, we're at home and one up from the first leg. What more do you want?
This.
Sick and tired of moaning cunts!
Eze.
What he said: "Everyone has an opinion"
What he meant: "Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one."

https://x.com/DailyAFC/status/204401079529… Maybe it is just a drill but don't we see these tactics on a regular basis which simply don't work well enough? I rarely see the quick one twos and short passing that is actually required to create space.

We don't create enough to have Martinelli as CF. The way we use our CFs, we want them to drop deep, bully defenders physically, win headers, hold up the ball and link up play... Martinelli cannot do all this.
It's been suggested before, but is it worth switching it up by playing Martinelli as a striker? Is that an option against teams who play a high line? Could have sparked him into life this season cos his output as a winger has been below par.
Rice and Saka both possibly out? Christ! Our injury situation is stupid, just stupid.
Saka deffo out from what I hear
Especially if Rice can't play

Arteta's comments regarding Zubimendi seem worrying. Looks he will be made to play regardless of form.
Who else is there?

I certainly don’t love him. There’s nothing wrong with looking for marginal gains and experimenting but I know tame and Chicken Soup for the Soul when I see it.
Airing that sequence is an admission that you think a rival has something over you. It’s just unnecessary imo.

Morning folks. It's weird isn't it. Last year at this point our title chances were already written off, knocked out of both cups, injury crises and red cards galore and yet we were really up for the Real matches. We cale into the PSG match ready to put them to the sword too, despite the huge absences.
This year we are in a much better starting point in this stage of the season, but results turn negative and we're already writing ourselves off. Maybe we won't manage to crawl past the finish line, but I think if we go down we'll go down swinging. I don't see a collapse happening with these lads. It's just that they're stunted from playing to their level, doesn't suddenly make all the opponents 1970s Brazil
The Anfield stuff is actually a very good idea. To try and prepare players in different ways is very innovative. Nobody would have mocked us had we won there.
It’s amateurish.
Arteta’s a bit cringy. Not knocking him for it; he just is. If any other PL manager - not least one managing a rival outfit - said or did some of the shit he has, we would rinse them like vegetables. ...
Given our record at Anfield, surely it was worth trying something different?

Rupture confirmed just now as I see. :-(
But I ask myself, and I was actually annoyed by the commentators' generic comments about Achilles ruptures symptomes, etc., as they have no expert knowledge, and not every Achilles rupture is the same or leads to the same thing as I am very well placed to know.
Maybe the cleanest, out of violent contact rather than out of the blue, are easier to deal with. But there's no 'you can't put your foot down or stand' in all cases.

Fucking doomers this morning. It's Sporting, we're at home and one up from the first leg. What more do you want?
We're all disappointed by Saturday, but logging on this morning to find definitive statements about failing and ending the season with nothing has been really disappointing. I didn't know we had soothsayers on the Arses. I would appreciate six numbers for tonight's lottery, ta.
Arteta's comments regarding Zubimendi seem worrying. Looks he will be made to play regardless of form.
Arteta saying "No fear. Pure fire." seems to have Kevin Keegan vibes written all over it unfortunately. Keegan in the 1995-96 season famously said of Utd "I would love it if we beat them! Love it!"

Start Jesus Right wing . Get left back and cb on yellows and bring on Nomi or Max to ripp them apart second half with fresh legs imo
Fucking injuries! We're not the only club to suffer them, but jeez! I'm reluctant to follow the "running players into the ground" narrative, but he hasn't done himself any favours by giving limited time to so many players. I know they haven't exactly pulled up trees, but who knows what difference regular playing time would have made?
Hope you continue to improve, NB. Taking into account your present state of mind, I'm curious about what you want them to say? They're facing questions - often snide and knowing - from the press, mill...
I'd love to hear something along the lines of:
"It’s a 'slump', is it? That’s a lovely, polite word. Personally I’d call it a collective decision by the front three to social distance from the opposition penalty area. But look, we’ll go back to the training ground, we’ll analyze the 'lip suppression' of the left-back, and we’ll try to remember that the goal is the bit with the white net, not the corner flag. What more do you want? Next question.."
But alas, sport is taken too seriously.

As he said himself 'What else can they say?'.
I think we get a bit too focused on the words, which only really matter when we don't perform. Perform, and they can stand on soapboxes telling dirty Limericks for all I care.
Second day off Ritalin so feeling a bit jittery, please take that into consideration when I say the following. I think we'll get knocked out tonight and get thumped on Sunday. I think we've gone, all ...
Hope you continue to improve, NB. Taking into account your present state of mind, I'm curious about what you want them to say? They're facing questions - often snide and knowing - from the press, millions of Arsenal fans across the world are on edge, shit is constantly being chucked at us, supporters of most other clubs would love us to fail again...I'm genuinely interested in what you would like them to say because I think anything other than trying to exude confidence and give supporters hope would be utterly detrimental.
I genuinely have no idea what to expect from tonight. I think we're as likely to get knocked out and crumble against City, as we are to go through to the semis and pull off something historic in Manchester. That being the case, I'm not going to worry about it, the matches will happen, and they will end, and I'll be somewhere to see them happen. But no more emotional investment from me.
(Unless we win the league, then I'll have a few beers and make a scrapbook lol)
Achilles issues are an arse (not talking of ruptures, a different thing).
Ask Ekitike 😳
'Pure fire' bollocks does not impress me anymore.
Play well, don't talk. As blogs said the other day.
Achilles issues are an arse (not talking of ruptures, a different thing).
'it was breathtaking stuff, and I’m sure I wasn’t alone in thinking it felt so far removed from what we’ve seen from Arsenal of late.'
Over the 2 legs it was 'braindead' stuff from Barca.... almost a carbon copy of some of the idoicy i've seen from Arsenal in the past...
And look at PSG last night, happy to sit back and soak up some pressure as needed....
As for Saka achilles issue, it's almost as if having it kicked relentlessly for 5 years with impunity may have some sort of effect on it.....
Fucking doomers this morning. It's Sporting, we're at home and one up from the first leg. What more do you want?

I Was in a good mood...going to take a break from the arses until this evening and hopefully there might be a bit of positivity when I return!

A fast start and early goal can alleviate some if not all of the nerves and enable us to get some sort of rhythm, also need somebody to accidentally lock the dressing room door while Artetas on the bog
Arse. Well in hazza, be lucky.
Morning all.
You are probably right, if they can't lift themselves for a final surge then we either need a new man at the helm, which is not likely unless Arteta decides to walk as he is making money for the club,...
Heh! Flapper on the sideline 😂
Sadly, I think that's been a big issue, how he transmits nervousness and cution. But he's extremely charismatic ina dour way and he's convinced the players his project is right. The way Eze is essentially parrotting Arteta's earlier statements about how exciting this moment is, ignoring the reality of the tension that is all around. I don't think they should succumb to the tension, but the truly courageous thing to do is look it squarely in the eye. It feels like this team is in denial and that means as soon as things get bumpy, they all look perplexed and can't react.
A win tonight would definitely help for Sunday. But at 1-0 up, all I can see is them trying to keep it tightb and letting a goal in and then it's panic stations. I just hope we have Timber and Calafiori back but it's been so changeable anyway, they could just as easily be culprits for any mistakes.
It's too early for talk of new managers. Let's get through this season, but it will be earth shattering if we end up with nothing. And I don't want to hear a single person say "second place and quarter-finals, we'd have been happy with that 7 years ago". Even Emery got us to a final, Wenger won three FA cups in his worst spell at the end.
Nah, second place and quarter-finals, if that's what we're left with after all this investment and all this hype is a disaster and definitely I would want to see the back of him.
But we're not there yet, savour these moments, let's be excited. Miracles can still happen...
I think the confidence has already drained. Sunday was when the balloon fully burst. That was the day. We're still top and still in the quarter-finals with a goal advantage. Might as well savour these...
You are probably right, if they can't lift themselves for a final surge then we either need a new man at the helm, which is not likely unless Arteta decides to walk as he is making money for the club, or giving him the chequebook again which would hinder a new manager later down the line.
One thing we can't afford is another jam tomorrow scenario that seemed to sum up Arsenes final years.
Ultimately it's down to the players, if they can cancel out the noise and ignore the flapper on the sideline who knows what might happen.
A win tonight is just as important as an early goal and settler this weekend. Lose tonight and the balloon is well and truly pricked, the confidence will drain in front of our eyes and if we were to c...
I think the confidence has already drained. Sunday was when the balloon fully burst. That was the day. We're still top and still in the quarter-finals with a goal advantage. Might as well savour these last few hours...
Second day off Ritalin so feeling a bit jittery, please take that into consideration when I say the following. I think we'll get knocked out tonight and get thumped on Sunday. I think we've gone, all our faults exposed. Eze saying this "excitement" thing is the manager speaking, it's all denialism. But what else can they say? Our forwards have been exposed as limited, all of them. I'd love them to prove me wrong, but I just can't allow myself to hope and be crushed again. They have the power to change their fate and the fate of all our fans. I just don't think they hav it in them. We'll see.
A win tonight is just as important as an early goal and settler this weekend. Lose tonight and the balloon is well and truly pricked, the confidence will drain in front of our eyes and if we were to concede early on Sunday after losing this match then I fear for us getting a right spanking.
We also have to remember that if we do collapse we could lose our best players over the summer and being world cup year finding decent replacements is going to be a challenge.
Two matches to save not just this season but to stop us declining into mediocrity and back into the Europa league.
Why oh why do we seem to have so many injuries at key times? 😕
Arse. Well in Hazza
Lets hope "pure fire" does not lead to a burnt out performance...again
