I don't think it's quite as rare as that but yeah the goalkeeper one does annoy the me where they go down for nothing knowing they can't go off.

redundant? heh, that might be another word that means something different in the UK. Over here it primarily means a duplicate of something rendering it irrelevant. It appears the UK definition goes well beyond that to be a general irrelevance rather than a repetition irrelevance.

These players just need to stand on their own two feet and do this shit. There is no doubt that Arteta wants them to play certain ways depending on the game state but I don't buy into the narrative that he has the handbrake on most of the time.

Yesterday we saw players step up in moments, create attacking moments and get the job done. Same thing on the defensive side. The three moments Sp*rs had were all unnecessary individual errors that had nothing to do with systems. Rice was guilty of two and Gabriel's bad habit of putting the responsibility on the ref to bail him out being the third.

WiB / FoB ;-0. Never in doubt.

Morning / Afternoon NLD winners!

What a glorious, refreshing victory that was, just the antidote and tonic for the disappointment of Wolves away last Wednesday. Hopefully, Arteta releases the handbrake and we continue to attack the opposition with more direct, forward attacking play in the last ten games of the season.

Again, there were several nervy moments of weakness defensively, even against a team as crap as the Spuds, but as long as we score more than the opposition, it won't matter and that means moving the ball quicker and vertically more directly, as we did yesterday.

Let's be honest, it could have easily been 2-2 with another defensive error, immediately after we had gone ahead—again! A really bad habit that we need to kick and pronto. We definitely got lucky with VAR giving Gabriel the free kick for a pretty elaborate leap. I'd be pretty livid if that were given against us in their box, but I'm thrilled that we actually had a VAR call going in our favour, because fuck Totteringham.

Start Eze on-a-Sunday and The Gyök against the Chavs next week and let's thump the Chavs at home.

I certainly appreciate all four (and Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly). I just think Mosquera's height, leg extensions and pace as well as his directness, might add a bit more verve to that side. But of course Timber is exceptional and is dangerous ahead as well.

With Calafiori, of course, he has that X factor (not his looks!) in his ability to occupy unexpected positions in attack and he has a feel for the flow of a game and when to step up. I just get the impression sometimes he can be a bit suspect in defence. Hincapié seems to me a more focused defender, a little bit faster, more clean in his tackling.

But these are all moot, as I said, not trying to pit anyone against anyone, this is the joy of a good squad, I'm just thinking about what would be best for the team to get the best results.

Personally I think Hincapié shades Calafiori right now as an all-rounder and even though I love what Timber does, and aside from his tiredness which many are noting is leading to mistakes creeping in, I love the way Mosquera canters down that right side and delivers direct balls to the front runners. And his tackling is exceptional too. It's a good choice to have tbh on both counts.

A great lesson from Arsenal on how to win a game 4-1 and still manage to leave the fans on edge for the best part of 93 minutes!
I think it's gonna be this way for the rest of the season. If we win the league, we are going to tear ourselves apart and build ourselves back up as fans. Ultimately, it's down to the players.

Gabriel's fall was very theatrical. I don't know that there was much of a push, though he did have his hands on him. But Gabriel's awareness and reaction was needed there. We got away with that and if it had been allowed to stand I couldn't have complained and 2-2 might have been a very different match. We're not out of the woods yet. Some good signs, but Chelsea will be tough, though we've bettered them this season so at home we should be able to seal this one. Brighton away worries me.

Arse. WiB.

Morning all.

Good win in the end yesterday. We started pretty quick and after the stupid ref comms stoppage got a deserved goal. Giving up one straight away is peak Arsenal and when we scored the second we once again barely touched the ball for five minutes. After that we upped the pace of our play and the passing was generally more forwards than backwards and sideways and it paid dividends. I think pretty much everyone has been looking for that to happen, hopefully the players take the confidence from the win to keep doing that.

Good to see Eze and Gyok get a couple of goals each, Saka was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet too, being denied by the keeper a couple of times.

Lots of talk about the Spuds disallowed goal, 100% correct decision in my opinion, there's clearly two hands in Gabriel's back and I'm giving that every time. If he doesn't push him then Gabriel gets something on it and there's absolutely no way he takes a touch and finishes it. Don't give the ref a decision to make and then whine when he does so.

Now let's smash these Chelsea slugs next Sunday.

No, that’s not what I was doing. I was the one pointing out the irony. There are paradoxes in pointing out that those who think they are 100% positive show a hell of a lot of negativity. No one is blameless. But you do you, irony is not dead.

Gyok looked good yesterday with Eze playing so close to him, they worked well and we don’t usually have 2 players in central/attacking positions

Something to think about
This. I hope Arteta has learned something too. And the players. That Timber pass inside to Gyökeres for the first goal was one that the wingers and full backs have played all too rarely. Eze often takes up that area in space as well. Both Rice and Zubimendi are well capable of feeding that vertical pass from deep and ignore it time and again. Gyökeres always makes that spinning run. Eze too finds the space. If we can unlock that central area we can get a run of wins. So often we invite pressure from that horseshoe manouevre, it’s not a safer option, stepping up and forcing that forward pass to me is more aggressive and has a better pay-off because we have a centre-forward who, for all his clumsiness and flat-footedness at times, is a pure finisher. And he has heart and courage and that, above any fan criticism or rival fan banter, is worth gold. I think the players are trusting him more now and he feels part of the club, the fans in the stadium love singing his chant. Keep it going!

Morning all. Well in Bruce
Loved the teams attitude yesterday. Didnt dwell on the ball at the back, played it forward. Looking to find space and not do the sterile possesion.

High pressure cooker atmosphere going into the last games with every game a must win. I am hoping we extend the gap before the city game.

My worry is that we have been here before. Excellent display one game, and reverting to ultra cautious the next. Hope that team meeting photos are pasted all over the dressing room as a reminder.

I thought Gyök was brilliant yesterday, it takes goals to bring it into a positive light, but his touch was far better, some outstanding work there. Most importantly, they passed it to him, and faster. I've paid into Eze because I think he's been feeble, but he produced yesterday. Passed forward, ran at them, played with bravery. Weird that it takes a particular undernourished chicken as an opponent to give him courage, but there it was. There's an argument that the spuds are so fucking bad that we could see they had nothing for us, but then it was precisely one game ago that the un-mighty Wolves provoked quite the opposite reaction.

I just really hope that this helps unlock something, that they talked the fuck out of the Wolves debacle and February in general, and understand they can be so much better by continuing to play and not to retreat into the no-longer-impregnable defensive structure.

Or maybe this is a false dawn and it was only spurs. It is totally realistic that those gimps go down this year if the SPammers can keep an upward curve, and Forest take points in games like yesterday rather than lose in the 97th.

But at least the vibes are totally reversed and life feels infinitely better, I'm glad for that and my faith is partially restored. Well played, you frustrating, nerve-wracking pack of beautiful bastids.

You know, I’ve got no problem with anyone backscrolling. I though we looked nervous at the start. Maybe my projection. Also, swearing and moaning at the players is a release for some of us. It’s genuinely like some reverse jinx for the “superstitious” ones of us. How many times has it happened that we scream that a player’s having a shit game and he goes and scores the winner?

The only down side to me of the joy of winning is how many “told you sos” come out of the woodwork, not to enjoy the win, but to spend their time attacking fans who manage defeats in a different way, by criticising and moaning? They show how bad it is to criticise the players and manager by criticising fans.

I know others don’t go there, but X was a cesspool of Arsenal positivos calling fellow Arsenal fans “disgusting” and worse for dissing Arsenal players.

Can we just not all enjoy the win? Does every win have to necessitate an inquisition of who said what when before?

We’re all fucking ecstatic, we all want Viktor to succeed, can we all just accept we have different ways of managing that and work out a way to get along? For the good of the club and the team we all support? I think that would help more than all this policing of fans’ reactions.

Anyway, onwards, let’s give Chelsea the same treatment.
