Pace
Strength
Control
Technique

Henry had every single one, Bergkamp just lacked serious pace. Many of our strikers have had 2 or 3 but Im not sure which is Gyok’s strongest.

I guess from his previous I thought he would be unstoppable one-on-one, pace and strength meaning he would be a tough man to get the ball off.
He doesn’t show the close control, nor the pace at the moment. If you can’t outpace or out muscle your defender, you need great technique on the ball….

“Squad player” is no excuse. He was touted as the most direct, successful dribbler in the league according to stats. Lies damned lies and statistics!

Havertz was the highlight of the game. Needs to replace Ødegaard. But may just replace Gyökeres who, despite the goal, was poor again against nothing defenders.

People say the pressure gets to this team. I disagree. No pressure tonight against the worst team in the CL, who would struggle in the Championship, and we were so wasteful.

So wasteful as if another chance will always come.
You'd think three years of falling short would have scarred them into battle monster mentality but they still don’t have the killer mindset, it’s fuck all to do with pressure.

He's one of the best players in the world in his position. Just an example of how frustrating/flawed Arsenal's recent recruitment has been in attacking areas that we went for FV while PSG signed his vastly better erstwhile colleague.

But as you know, things have got heated here too and it's my personal gripe having been firmly cast in the "doomer" camp for many years. I just don't understand why criticising players and manager gets such vitriol from supposedly calm fans. The vitriol is almost always personal and underhand.

It's more to the fact of my Italian background. You want to hear Italian fans arguing about their clubs. It gets intense, but it's all considered part of the game. Italians are passionate about their clubs and their personal view of what goes right or wrong. I find this newer false gentility a bit hard to take this idea that a true supporter never criticises their team. I find it quite dystopian tbh, like the Stepford Wives or something!

I think the fans who are always so relaxed (and quiet at the end when we have blown titles like in 21/22 and 22/23) look down on fans who get nervous and agitated. "Finally some voices of reason. I am really tired of seeing some fans being over-hype when we win the game and being overly critical after a lose. It's one thing to recognize the weakness of the team, or even to rant on the poor performance, and its quite another to curse our players when things don't go so well."

They're gonna show courage to keep playing the way they've been playing in spite of the whole support wanting attacking football! Arteta: "Opinion is divided on the matter, the whole Arsenal fanbase thinks we need bold attacking football, I think otherwise!" Only joking!! I'm sure we'll see some goals tonight.

I know other peoples' dreams are tedious- but had a weird one last night where Viktor was actually Lee Chapman. Lee knew his return to top flight football would be taken even less seriously than it was in the 80s. So he assumed the persona of a young Swede. With acting coaching from Lesley Ash he re-entered the merciless world of the top flight number 9.

I've got no problem with what Arteta said. As I said before, he understood how important the connection with the fans is. He understood the club so was able to make that connection. He says he will play with courage and if he does, the fans will be 100% behind him. My issue is more with the commentary around. I've said before here that there are tons of influential Arsenal social media nerds now, who analyse every detail tactically, come out in favour of Arteta 100% of the time and seem to have this air of despising any fan who criticises the team in any way. I find that to be the noxious thing. Yes, there are fans who go way too far. But the best way to deal with that is not to shut down reasonable criticism with sardonic comments or worse. This team has gone through a lot and has faltered in recent games. It's really up to no one but themselves to get back up and provide the guts and results to keep us on top. I really think we have to be 6 points clear when we face Man City. I'll be honest, I'm worried we'll fall off again because we have done at this stage so many times. It's not the fans who can change that, it's the team and the manager has to be bold, the team has to play with courage and that means horseshoe passing and percentage balls has to give way to some real aggression especially in the final third, or "zone 15" or whatever the fuck they call it now!

I think as fans, we have to start realising just how foggin good this side is, and start appreciating it.
There's a reason all the dickheads, call us Set piece Fc, Dark arts FC, criticize Artetas behavior, whilst giving Slot & Pep a free pass.. They are scared...
The fact that we are disappointed to be only 4 pts clear, with 15 games to go is testament of where we're at, and if as a match going fan, you're not prepared to get on board with that, then F''k off and don't come.....give you're ticket to someone who wnats to help, and watch it on your firestick
Wenger was asked, why did Liverpool win CL's when the couldn't win the League, his simple answer... Anfield....
Maybe we're too honest and discerning as fans, and not as delusional as some others, but, we have a choice...

But the reality is that Talk Sport is listened to by many fans and Sky Sports and TNT is watched by many fans. They in turn take their talking points from social media and it filters into fans' feelings and back again. It's great if you can ignore it. I try my best, but the whole point of it was to say we looked at the start off the year like we could pull away from City. We were in a position, given their own draws and losses etc to have been able to really turn the screw and go even 11 points clear. We've had a bad start to the year and while I don't see any fans booing the team, I'm seeing a lot of implication that fans need to do more when it's really the team that needs to do more. I just don't like not only blaming the fans, but turning on them in quite vicious ways when they criticise players and team performance as they are perfectly entitled to do. In fact, it's healthy to be honest rather than sugar-coat it. This team has to prove itself again. There are some great players here and others who can play better. Even the ones like Madueke and Gyökeres who look like they're struggling to prove themselves can do better than they've been doing. I'm just saying to everyone, whether directly or by implication, stop blaming our poor performances on the fans.

We all know he won't though.

Rather Salmon and u21 left back subbed on . In a dead rubber . It's what Wenger would do .

"Oh my god don't even say it" ie don't say what we're all thinking, don't jinx it. We had a chance to go 9-11 points clear. If we were 11 points clear at this stage it would have looked like walking away with it. What I will say is that at least we've been where we are before, and slipped around here a couple of times, so it'll keep us focused. I like how Blogs mentioned the United game could be the short, sharp shock we all needed. And at least it gets the rival pundits back on our case as bad fans and a club ready to blow it. That's better than people saying that we're gonna walk away with it.

Oh come on, there was loads of talk on the airwaves. Again, I know a lot of it was deliberately set up by rivals to tempt fate. Most of us fans were not falling for it, but there were quite a few who were crowing about Arteta's genius and it was hard to disagree. We looked like we were in a dominant position (not for the first time). I saw a post - almost certainly AI generated - which highlighted how Arteta was playing in the side that blew the title allowing minnows Leicester to win in 2016. That may well have left its own mark on the man and all he represents. To defy that will take monumental effort. As is often said about title fights, a challenger can't expect to win on points, they have to knock out the champion. I think we'll have to do the same.

I felt even in December when we were flying high that the trip to the Etihad was gonna be the decider. You've got to take it from them, even if they're not champions, they are the team that's dominated these past years. I'd feel very nervous going up there to win, but that's where the team has to defy the nerves and show something it hasn't showed yet, real bottle.

Suddenly we have draws and a couple of defeats and what would you expect fans to feel? The totally unnecessary bad results came first, not the nerviness of fans.

Yes, but that's not good faith discussion, it's bait.
Agreed, but that bait is all over the internet, radio and TV. And that is what affects players and fans because it's hard not to react or be affected by it. And it keeps getting regurgitated. The truth is fans can get angry in the heat of the moment but they will be cheering their team on as they always do. And players they criticised will have better games, then those same commentators will call fans fickle. We have to all try to blot it out. We're still in the driving seat!

Obviously you can make an argument about WHY those 60k people are feeling nervous in the first place, but it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation.
Again, I'm no scholar in psychology (philosophy's more my bag) but I genuinely think the atmosphere created by thousands of people could even rattle the most well-drilled, calm team of players.

Nobody anywhere is "blaming" the fans, certainly nobody within the club. So that line of discussion is irrelevant.

The Talk Sport mob are having a field day calling Arsenal fans the worst. Arteta shouldn't need to reference the fans. He's done great work re-connecting the fans to the club, and I know he needs to say something on media to rouse the troops. But the fans want this as bad as anyone and they will respond if the team shows courage. It kind of goes without saying.

Also think a small tendency to concede late goals this season has added to anxiety.

Liverpool away, Villa away, Sunderland away, United at home. That's an issue imo

I thought it was good messaging by Arteta, he has foggin estandards but is also a very, very smart man. I liked the vibe.
Easier said than done, the fanbase is dreadfully nervous and desperate,...
I also think there is a strong link, but it's heavily weighted towards the team for me

Sorry, it's not that the team has to perform too. The team has to perform. Every game there is a massive cheer at the start and fans drive the team on. On Sunday, Arsenal went 1-0 up and you know that the fans were ecstatic and I know that I was thinking "come on let's go for it". Then Arsenal went into their shell. Zubimendi has the ball, Rice makes a great run between the midfielders arm out asking for Zubi to play the through ball we know he can play. Instead Zubi passes back to a Saliba being pressed, Saliba passes back to Zubi and the rest is history.

When you give away a goal like that in such a key match, you have to expect the fans to feel disheartened at the lack of courage in that one move. But the fans kept cheering. And when Arsenal went 2-2, you just know the fans were driving the team on to go on and win it. Then we gave the ball away again and Utd got a winner which took the guts out of us.

That's not the fault of fans. That's the team and they have to take full responsibility. I really don't like this blaming of the fans. The fans more than played their part as they will continue to do. It's up to Arteta to be true to his word and get his team to play with courage. You have to take this title, it won't come from playing safe and no fan wants us to play safe. The ball is squarely in the court of the manager and the way he sets his team out.

Easier said than done, the fanbase is dreadfully nervous and desperate, I count myself amongst that 100%. A roaring, supportive fanbase will lift the team no doubt. Perhaps good that the next league game is away, where the support is unwaveringly loud and persistent. I understand that the team has to perform too, I just feel there is a strong link between the two, even if nobody is saying the fans drive the performances.
