The barn door banjo last one ! I was confused earlier as TNT started buffering during the the 4 - 1 incident and the when I'd managed to sort it out then suddenly we were 3- 2. Thought I must have dozed off.
Was that the he one that went halfway down the Holloway Road ?
Which one?!
Did you see his final ball all night?!?!
…i’ve got him earmarked as a bit of a Space Cowboy after that ‘moonshot’
Did you see his final ball all night?!?!
Was that the he one that went halfway down the Holloway Road ?
??? Noni created 0 chances that can’t be right..
Did you see his final ball all night?!?!
Well Ollie will be happy with last night’s results, although Ethan misses out on some European football the rest of the season
??? Noni created 0 chances that can’t be right..
MLS , KAI , Gyokeres.. Madueke, Mosquera ,Martinelli , all ahead of Eze . We all love him but he needs to find a role soon and dominate some games force himself as a starting option, we know how brilliant he can be.
Actually this is another point. In football we have four, sometimes five, ways to win a trophy. Most North American sports only have one plus a post season playoff for a second
I didn’t realise
Well it’s quintessentially American isn’t it? Two reasons to celebrate.
Actually this is another point. In football we have four, sometimes five, ways to win a trophy. Most North American sports only have one plus a post season playoff for a second
We need 20 in the league ideally
15 goals in 15 games here we come
Big Gyok on 10 now
If he could break 20 by the end of the season would be handy

I was going say thats literally what a league is, except we didn’t play everyone so it’s not a true league.
It should be called the Champion’s cup, let’s be real
Well yeah lol.
Not that I give much shrift to rival jibes such as winning leagues in December as such but this is not something to endorse.

and the typical league isn't 8 games, it's like 80 in NHL or 30 something in MLS.

Isn’t that exactly what the Champions league does? Except we don’t get our trophy?
This is a fucking luxury.. we should be enjoying it more .. group stage winners did it with a stroll and we now have a full strength squad available for the first time this season… Bit I’m a still worried about our disaster class vs Manure ..
Not that I give much shrift to rival jibes such as winning leagues in December as such but this is not something to endorse.
A trophy for being the best performing club in a competition before the knockout stage is just sickly.
It’s something they do in the US he said. You win the league, get a trophy and they compete in the playoffs
I don't quite agree with him on that. Over here we don't have tournament trophies like football has. A team gets a trophy for winning the league. Then the league feeds into playoffs for a tournament trophy. It'd be like football league play feeding into the FA Cup.
Well it’s nice to be top of theCL league like we are, has it had an impact on the teams we might face or was that already decided by coeffficient
Well if the do it in the US I retract my earlier statement and I’m now against it ..
In fact I was against it before it was cool if anyone asks.
Well it’s quintessentially American isn’t it? Two reasons to celebrate.
There are plenty of quintessentially American things the world could do without.
So you either neuter the whole thing by taking away the final or introduce a tokenistic trophy.
Sounds amazing.
Well it’s quintessentially American isn’t it? Two reasons to celebrate.
If you give it some thought it’s kinda a good Idea.. league stage trophy.. and then the playoff/ Cup trophy 🏆 as well .. It’s not as dumb as it sounds .. Make it a thing.. And bin conference.

2 more games that should've been ¢115eh's to clog up their schedule a bit more.
Bodö Glimt are the team to fear anyone else can have it.
We missed out on another record with their last minute goal.. would have been the first team ever to win 8/8 without odd goal win .. whatever that means .. But I wanted it …It was ours ..
ha ha, those media stats guys really do like making up shit.

heh, always... but fuck ¢115eh more
Bemgicas result sucked more than I realised.. that was the decider ..Shit Real Madrid only needed a draw ..
Are they out then?
so close too, fucking useless twits at Madrid.
Yeah but then again fuck Real Madrid
Atalanta, Leverkusen, Dortmund or Olympiacos
Apparently our options. Happy with any except Atalanta, might be a banana skin
Fucking shame man city didn't end up with a qualifier

Ethan would have been able to play during the next phase had they qualified!
too bad he couldn't play today, maybe they wouldn't have gotten slapped around so bad.
Fucking shame man city didn't end up with a qualifier
Think Heinze's role could be drawn into sharp relief as discussion about attacking woes rumble on. Cuesta was a significant backroom departure and you'd wonder if we miss his more macro-level view of the game. Heinze is precisely the chap you would appoint if you wish to double down on defensive structure and off-the-ball discipline.
Keown suggesting the CL should have a trophy for the league stage winners* i think that would be ace, personally, because winning 8/8 is an achievement, but means fuck all if you don’t win all the knockouts

Hahaha Madrid
Cunts

Watching pedro interview...they have a big fucking 'world champions' badge on the kit
will our women get one of those is we beat Corinthians? 😏
I think a striker needs as may of these as possible:
Pace
Strength
Control
Technique
Movement
Henry had every single one, Bergkamp just lacked serious pace. Many of our strikers have had 2 or 3 but Im not sure which is Gyok’s strongest.

Norgaard deserves more minutes. I hope he plays at least some of the Chelsea game to give Zubimendi a bit more time off.
Don't want to see madueke starting ahead of saka any time soon

Martinelli got yoinked because we'll need him ready for league games, Madueke not so much. 😏😬
Excellent point! I felt unsure and a tad embarrassed thinking about this being a limitation, but glad to find someone else making the same point.
I guess from his previous I thought he would be unstoppable one-on-one, pace and strength meaning he would be a tough man to get the ball off.
He doesn’t show the close control, nor the pace at the moment. If you can’t outpace or out muscle your defender, you need great technique on the ball….
The opposition were terrible. It's a game where the likes of Eze and Madueke should have grabbed it by the scruff ofnt he neck. Eze just drifted around a lot and Madueke shit the bed when he got near the goal. If I was Martinelli I'd have been fuming to get the hook when Madueke was left on. Norgaard was very good in the middle and Havertz was excellent in the first half.
Watching pedro interview...they have a big fucking 'world champions' badge on the kit
They got that badge for their 1-1 win against us
Chavs looked pretty useful, from what I saw in the highlights. Pedro with a belter. Wish we had someone that could do that.

What's the odegaard diet - celery and water?
Dust
Yeah some nice first time passes round the corner
Madueke is a bit of a goat though
Unpopular opinion but Madueke was way better than Eze in this game .. people focus on his misses but he was rinsing them and dribbling through their team at will in first half .
Even his goal today… he tried really hard NOT to take the ball with him

I missed the first half but reading the live arses Gyok seemed to squander a lot of chances, no?
Yeah but he was mobile hungry fast .. and he was there to
Miss those chances.. plus was robbed of a goal by Martinelli for his assist.
Thought some of Eze’s passes were sublime

And he combined well with Havertz
I missed the first half but reading the live arses Gyok seemed to squander a lot of chances, no?
He missed a few but at least he was getting chances, he scored a nice goal and looked a lot more lively
Dude that version of Ade would have seen us win a couple of trophies already..he was a cunt yes but .. a hell of a striker .,and with THIS team .. I’d take him ahead of …a bunch of options.
Also, bought him for a song (who laid on many chances for Ade).
Gyokeres and Kai looked very good today..
And MLS played like a fucking baws .. regardless of opposition it’s a good thing.
I missed the first half but reading the live arses Gyok seemed to squander a lot of chances, no?
I didn't see the first half. Did Gyok miss a stack of chances?
Yes but he scored on his first a damn good goal as well with 4 players crowding him
Underwhelming performance considering the opposition. Too many players snatching at things and not having their heads screwed on.
Although we tried to be more direct and vertical, still not enough for my liking when this was the opportunity to try risky passes and moves cos there wasn't a lot at stake.
Gyokeres and Kai looked very good today..
And MLS played like a fucking baws .. regardless of opposition it’s a good thing.
Do you realise at the moment Arsenal have NO AFCON - eligible players.
I didn't see the first half. Did Gyok miss a stack of chances?
Yeah fuck Ade .. but he had his talents
I thought Gyok looked a lot more lively tonight with Havertz behind, I want to see more of them together
I liked the Kai-Gyok combo up top.
I can’t give him any credit whatsoever after the way he treated us. Worse than RvP
Yes, he occupies persona non grata/pariah status - and there is good reason - but I believe in credit where it's due.
What a guy he was. Scored 30 that one season cause Hleb and Cesc created approximately one billion chances for him.

Let's keep it real - scored some very good goals.

Definition of a one in ten merchant.
Tremendous player tho.
Their second goal reminds me of the Man U's second and third goals in terms of getting down our right hand side.
What a guy he was. Scored 30 that one season cause Hleb and Cesc created approximately one billion chances for him.

Maybe if we pad him like Henry hed play like Henry
Little Adebayor reference for those over 30

Shouldn't be buying squad players that need fixing for 50m.
England international after all .. they don’t come cheap.. but yeah I don’t recall his final ball being as shit as we have seen at Arsenal

The goalkeeper scored no?
Isn't the trade off that he's on £50k a week?
Certainly doesn't deserve more.

it looks like they coughed up another one. they won't be pipping ¢115eh

There was some enjoyable moves. You feel they all need to improve reactions and one-touch play.,they had better be on it. Running out of road. Enough doom from me.
Nytol!
So many wide players never ever fix their end product. Infact wide players who rarely execute the final action are the norm.
a marquee name WAS on the horizon. Two in fact... they just aren't pulling up the trees we'd hoped.
Indeed.
I rationalised it as a squad signing and parked my frustration in the belief that a marquee name was on the horizon.

My main thing is if our big guns were doing the business we wouldnt be talking about Madueke.
I'm not as down on him as others but that moon ball shot from 8 yards out was craaaazy. You just don't see that at this level.
I enjoyed it, in a way
I am still holding out hope that he comes good. Getting a bit tired of Saka's predictability. Be nice if Noni could have some end product because he skips past defenders.
If we could merge Saka and Madueke.
Sakueke

I think a lot of us were similarly deluded.
Madueke is a squad player but, as has been said, 50m is looking increasingly embarrassing.
Some of the reaching about the 'chaos factor' isn't a million miles away from Sanogo era wishful thinking.
“Squad player” is no excuse. He was touted as the most direct, successful dribbler in the league according to stats. Lies damned lies and statistics!
Havertz was the highlight of the game. Needs to replace Ødegaard. But may just replace Gyökeres who, despite the goal, was poor again against nothing defenders.
We tried not to, honestly. A million chances to make it 4-1 and ended up 3-2
50m looked embarrassing the moment it happened
I am still holding out hope that he comes good. Getting a bit tired of Saka's predictability. Be nice if Noni could have some end product because he skips past defenders.
Odegaard too much fucking lateral movement and passing.
Breaking news!

So wasteful as if another chance will always come.
You'd think three years of falling short would have scarred them into battle monster mentality but they still don’t have the killer mindset, it’s fuck all to do with pressure.
Too many snatched shots. In the second half the ball wasn't released fast enough and lost the second half 0-1.
Aye just needs a brain stem
Has any footballer succeeded grown one after 23?

come on Madrid, last minute equalizer to pip ¢115eh to 8th
Madueke is a fucking spanner
I Love him .. just needs to add a shot to his game.
good lord there's no explaining that Madueke
At all… That final ball is atrocious.
Pro is we created loads of chances. Downside, it was against Kairat, and we took very few of them.
Madueke is a fucking spanner
We have about 3 chances there where we were 3 v 3 or 2 v 2 and made the wrong choices every time. No one knows where to run..
I thought there was some promising movement and forward passing in the first half but that second half was shit
Not exactly the moral building thrashing
Crawling pace, manage to get oer the line. All went to shit when Kai went on and Nodegaard came on.
Not exactly the moral building thrashing
I think some of our squad depth is overrated
Havertz is our hope. Better pray he stays fit. And Calafiori.
We have about 3 chances there where we were 3 v 3 or 2 v 2 and made the wrong choices every time. No one knows where to run..
Starting to wonder if replacing Cuesta (a one-on-one specialist) with Heinze has had its drawbacks.
That's impressive any way you slice it but ffs what a disjointed second half against a squad there for the taking.
Not exactly the moral building thrashing
We have about 3 chances there where we were 3 v 3 or 2 v 2 and made the wrong choices every time. No one knows where to run..
Utterly clueless, as if they have never played together before.
Squad players maybe but truth be told we’ve been slack throughout with a very limited team. Some good moments and too many bad ones. Ødegaard was ineffective again. Madueke? My oh my!
We have about 3 chances there where we were 3 v 3 or 2 v 2 and made the wrong choices every time. No one knows where to run..
Is he Gervinho in disguise?
Gervinho was sometimes good
What did he actually go? Or fail to do.
We need to be brave and play him in the Premier league
Noorgard that is.
The pitch was too pitchy!
Must have been a snag in the Carpet
good lord there's no explaining that Madueke
The pitch tackled him
We definitely got we signed from Chavs.
Is he Gervinho in disguise?
good lord there's no explaining that Madueke
another youngster coming on.
It was a good game from Norgaard
We need to be brave and play him in the Premier league
This guy is the real deal. Watch for defence splitting passes. Not tonight maybe. But soon.
he looks tall, could end up with a Vieira physique... the big Vieira.
3-1 is fine
Save the flaying for Chavs.
Take it around the keeper and tap it in. FFS.

there it is! he looked a little sheepish almost unsure it would count... the VAR effect?
weve been pretty sloppy in attack in the second half.....until Jesus scores
Or not
Guess im late for work today!
weve been pretty sloppy in attack in the second half.....until Jesus scores
Some of our fans are so fucking defensive man. You think they'd be more exasperated at the club's failings than fellow fans' qualms.
our boys need to practice those far post shots more. We've narrowly missed a few of those lately
Especially at home. He looked so serious when he came on though, I could never be a pro because I wouldn't be able to hide my excitement
Nwaneri is the same, always looks so intensely serious when he comes on
"invariably ending up with lesser lights."
We've signed one of Lille's key attackers!
😀 Hazard?
no, Gervinho
😒
Ugh
Wenger was very aware of Hazard. Tried to sign him, I believe... but for whatever reason, didn't materialise.
This whole 'and you knew he was a worldbeater, did you?' is laughably inane.

Norgaard quietly impressive. If Zubi keeps giving away goals, then Norgaard can start.
He's been tidy. He's proven in the league. Surely has deserved more mins than he's had this season.
The number 81 isn't even on the programme
Norgaard quietly impressive. If Zubi keeps giving away goals, then Norgaard can start.
His flick for the third goal was sublime
These fuckers better conjure up another goal ffs
They're in 1st gear and aren't too bothered about getting into 2nd

Gyoks gotta put that right across the 6 yd box
Ben White has gone into Havertz' position
He has been playing centre forward the whole half, very frustrating

What matters is how both performed when signing for their respective clubs and justified their price tags... and, to be fair, Vitinha had more stature; was a Portugal international. Cost PSG only a few million more.
Lovely run from Noni, he has the ability to get past his man and gat a ball across the 6 yard box.
Ok i gotta go to work now.
Play nice boys...
pass forward and good things happen guys
Very poor corner from Madueke
Definitely missing Kai this half.
that was a terrible sequence lol. His first touch can be decent but the ones afterwards can be very bad.
We never played Porto while Vitinha was there.
I'm referring to where we and PSG bought him and Vieira from.
Norgard has VERY black hair...
racist
...and, my god, some of us do watch continental football! I wish I had time to watch more of it...
We never played Porto while Vitinha was there.
It's not quite knock it around the horseshoe. We're getting attempts. This is a little more like the Wenger walk it into goal years.
He won MotM in the first leg of last year's SF.
Guy is not some overrated glamour player.
He is a very good player. I just think there is plenty of nuance in the personnel conversations. A big one being we've got a lot of new players.
Gone back to playing Ødeball
🥱
Gone back to playing Ødeball
I mean i guess? He plays in a farmer's league and the team caught fire in the Champions League last season with a career defining year by Dembele. He's got one goal in the league this year.

Musiala such a don. Love that kid.
No Rice, No Saka, means it's just a plain corner,
to be fair, the last one Eze put in was a pretty good delivery
No Rice, No Saka, means it's just a plain corner,
That shot was a pretty good attempt by Noni
Madueke has a nice shot on him
Feel like beating Chelsea to reach the League Cup final would definitely be manna for my soul after last week. Glad that's less than a week away.
This team needs a final and it's good to have a squad with a clean bill of health in the run-up.

For the record, today is the first time I've posted after reading the blog for almost 20 years.
2 more goals minimum folks. Don't be dicking about now.
Yes another from Martinelli to make up for not scoring against Inter.
¢115eh all the way up to 5th. We need some teams around them to get their heads out of their asses right quick.

I've given Havertz tonnes of shit but I will admit that he was one of the better attacking players of 24/25 before the injury. His return is a welcome one and you have to admire the work ethic.

This Ben White and Timber playing centre forward nonsense has to stop. Make some overlapping runs.
Well now we will know what Odegaard does.
This will be very interesting. Havertz has set a standard with that 45 minutes. Let's see how Martin reacts.
At this juncture? No, I won't. By your incredibly exacting standards Pires would have written off after his underwhelming first six months. What about Saint Dennis?
I backed Pires at the time when others didn’t. I believed in Dennis and was in the North Bank when he scored the second goal of his career.
Stop trying to assume you know me. You have a nasty edge to you reminiscent of someone who’s been on here before under another name.
I’m allowed, as is any fan, to like or dislike players. I was never a fan of Ray Parlour but for that FA Cup final I said he would score before the match to a fellow fan who I always moaned to him about.
You know nothing about me. Please drop your very obvious bigoted agenda.
We're watching a match here.
I've given Havertz tonnes of shit but I will admit that he was one of the better attacking players of 24/25 before the injury. His return is a welcome one and you have to admire the work ethic.
He is playing as an attacking midfielder, you've just forgotten what that looks like because ødegaard is never there
Well now we will know what Odegaard does.
Go on Tottenham. Save Colonel Frank.
He’s on the right and central. Eze is more in the left 8
Credit where credit is due because it looks to me Kai is making a statement to his teammates in terms of playing with intent and attacking aggression. But I think this is the choice he is making as a player (and the level of opposition).
My point is just because they are flourishing elsewhere doesn't mean that translates in the PL. Just worth remembering as we sometimes forget this.
heh, yep... though it's hard to forget when we have the most glaring example of it leading the line.
You say you do but you don’t come across as someone who does. You come across as having a bit of an agenda. Like who were you before you were a massive cock?
Admittedly, I've always been a bit of cock but not massively so!
Interesting fact. Earhole hair start in the left ear, grows through the skull and comes out the right ear.
If you pull it back and forth it is a natural form of mental floss.
Good to know.
My point is just because they are flourishing elsewhere doesn't mean that translates in the PL. Just worth remembering as we sometimes forget this.
This is true... he's put up some rather impressive numbers G/A numbers, though. Has reinvented himself somewhat.

I don't understand your statement. Midfield isn't only left 8 position

Benfica 2-1 up against RM
Mourinho going to be swaggering around the dugout like a depressed fat uncle who has an audience for the first time in months at a family gathering.
no one wanted McTominay because at United he was a thuggish brute. I'm surprised and admittedly impressed with how he's managed to boost his career over there.

This! Those saying he’s playing in midfield are watching a different game. He’s looking sharp.

Havertz picking up some nice positions too. Playing really high up.

£100m though. Makes me wince. He’s a great finisher but £100m?
a chunk of which would go to ¢115eh, assuming they included a sell-on clause.
Havertz picking up some nice positions too. Playing really high up.
He's the best fit for Arteta's system. Occupies positions that himself and Saka can benefit from mutually.
He seems to be doing ok at Napoli as is McTominay. I’d have him over Gyökeres right now. I’ve often admitted I’m wrong on here. Not sure what you would do with your mistakes.
Er, I own my mistakes, both in life and footballistically. Also, I'm not on here or elsewhere criticising our players and recruitment incessantly. How many clubs really hit the mark? The likes of Bournemouth, Brentford, Leicester and Palace, but they pay a terrible price for it (no pun intended) when the so-called "top clubs" pick them off like vultures feasting on carrion.
In this market, yes. If Gyokeres is £65m then Alvarez is easily that. PL proven too.
I do have faith in Berta. He had just a few months. Completed the business at hand. Big question mark over his choice in Gyökeres but he knows how to get deals over the line and with a season to work on this summer’s deals, I expect good things.
Was Vintinha that good against us over two legs? I don't think he was. Would he tear it up week in and week out in the Prem? I dunno.
I know nobody wanted McTominay and he goes to Italy and becomes Serie A player of the year.
Interesting fact. Earhole hair start in the left ear, grows through the skull and comes out the right ear.

Anyway, we can let some of those wounds lie for suturing.
Good to see Havertz looking sharp in front of goal, opposition notwithstanding.

Feel we could talk them down a little bit. He's supposedly unsettled and would probably push for it.
Tendency to bash the club using hindsight gets a bit too much.

I like the player but that does not feel like a sure thing to me
Why shock? I reinforced my point re Vitinha as well... this club's recruitment in attacking areas is suspect as fuck.

-Havertz worst buy ever
-He is not good/strong enough to play in midfield

Please no
I dont have to do that...but male work buddy would agree with you...he says he nearly passed out once when hus wife grabbed one of his nose hairs
I saw God.

Maduek's passable as a squad player but 50m is at least 25% too expensive.

Oh dear.. Sorry to hear that
Its ok, she has already cost me more in 3 years than all the other dogs (combined) i have ever had in my whole life...but i love her dearly
PSG's scouts did... and I know who got considerably more value for money.
I still look at Edu and his supposed connections Brazil and we basically all we got was Marquinhos
you want chelsea to win as well as the spuds so city have to play a two extra games
I’m just thinking of my paesans!
Heh! I know. Trying to be fair. He is clumsy. But he keeps trying.
hes woeful
Also, you're not going to see me criticise the club for recent defensive acquisitions. That is certainly not an issue.

He was an irrelevance among football scouts?! Don't play that puerile game.
Was 19 or 20 when he want to Wolves.
It's not irrelevant. I don't remember a single person here wanting him.
You’re right no one did. But Vieira looked odd from the start. Great shot though!
Such revisionist bollocks!
What he did at Wolves is fucking irrelevant. He's one of the best midfielders in the world... Vieira is floundering on loan at a team hovering above relegation places.

Anyone could see Vieira was not fitted for the Prem the dainty sparrow. Vitinha’s not much bigger but has a lower centre of gravity and more heart

I really hope we do. With Eze on the left.

At least we have one teenager with a double-barrelled surname in the squad tonight. Can't have a dead rubber game without one of those. 😅
Arsenal: Kepa, White, Mosquera, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly, Havertz, Norgaard, Eze, Madueke, Martinelli, Gyokeres
Subs: Setford, Porter, Gabriel, Salmon, Hincapie, Zubimendi, Ibrahim, Odegaard, Bailey-J...
Full of attacking intent
mustn't be too hubristic, though.
You couldn't play a team called Kairat and leave Kai out, could you ??!!
Heh Odegaard probably could have started as well to get a confidence boost
Wonder what's happened to Harriman-Anous?

Havertz starting is a pleasant surprise. Cala too. Hope Ife Ibrahim gets on too. He looks a real talent

Ah... Kai Havertz LANS!
Eze & Havertz as the eights or two up top?
It’s obviously White up top, Mosquera bombing down the wing.
as long as it's not Nick Riviera
I wouldn't know.

Wow! The first time in this game that she's had the ball and not given it away!
is she on a yellow or no? that one could've been too.
Don't think she is, she's got away with a couple!

pretty rare. I remember Oliver actually doing it one time... in our favour!
I guess they have to occasionally to make look like there's a point to it
She needs a tad more makeup! 🤣
heh, ouch
I wonder what Hind is thinking after arriving just last summer and now seeing Holmberg burst on to the scene like this.

How many times has a ref stuck with their original decision after being sent to the video replay?

Off the line without the hand this time!
The first goal was almost off the line too, they damn near kept it out.
That one looked similar to one the guys could've had that wasn't given but seemed people weren't too upset about.
Off the line without the hand this time!
Ooh, nearly 4-0, cleared off the line
Is Osimhen in the mood tonight??
Come on you Turkish twats!

I read that Sterling has left Chavs. Contract cancelled by mutual consent. Given that he had 18 months remaining on £325,000 per week, that must be costing them a fair amount
I guess they'll save a bit on the canteen bill this way
To be fair, Sterling was quite some player in the first half of his career but my word did things go south quickly over there.
I don’t recall seeing a player go to seed in such a short period of time. Pretty much in the space of two seasons while still being a relatively young player

It's been so much fun seeing my Man U cousin in Italy losing his shit over the players and managers in the past couple of years especially. But boy did he enjoy Sunday. I got one text from him "Cuuuunnha" and he didn't message after I replied. We HAVE to win the league!

I knew an Italian girl. During a World Cup, I think it was the 2010 one when Italy drew 2 and lost the last game finishing dead last in the group stage. Her dad threw the most amazing strop I've even seen. No one, not even his wife, could say single word to him for literally weeks.

Heh! It's really not my priority, but point taken. There's more than enough of that here. It's far more civil (mostly). But as you know, things have got heated here too and it's my personal gripe having been firmly cast in the "doomer" camp for many years. I just don't understand why criticising players and manager gets such vitriol from supposedly calm fans. The vitriol is almost always personal and underhand.
It's more to the fact of my Italian background. You want to hear Italian fans arguing about their clubs. It gets intense, but it's all considered part of the game. Italians are passionate about their clubs and their personal view of what goes right or wrong. I find this newer false gentility a bit hard to take this idea that a true supporter never criticises their team. I find it quite dystopian tbh, like the Stepford Wives or something!
More fool you NB, for clicking and also listening to these cunts...
Again, I'm not saying that I do. I catch clips here and there on social media. This was just a search to those who say Arsenal fans are not being blamed. I don't have the energy to look for all the nerdy Arsenal tacticos saying the same. I'm just saying that all this doing fellow fans down is what adds to the toxicity. Just let fans do their thing. That's about what Blogs was saying this morning. As long as it's not abusive or personal to family etc.
Anyway, I'm glad we've got a match on tonight. I'll be cheering on from my armchair :)
Zubi playing 90 mins, and at half time he'll be doing sprints, followed by pull-ups to fatigue
Sounds about right 😭

I think all this talk of "influencers", social media et al, in the last few days has given me a whole new understanding of you my friend. I suspect a lot of your comments are not actually directed at Arseurs but are coloured by what you're seeing elsewhere.
I take in practically none of that stuff so maybe that's why I don't get where you're coming from sometimes, but after your descriptions of it... 😬 I agree with you, stay away from that shit, it sounds awful.

Fair enough. Even with makeshift team, we'd still be too strong for Kairat. At least, that's the hope.
Same, although I am only a lurker on Gunners, I don't have a Reddit account.
This is the only place where you can enjoy me
I think I speak on behalf of fellow arsers when I say we do enjoy your posts, Kleinie.
I am dreading the lineup announcement to be honest; Gabriel, Saka, Zubi, Timber all starting for continuity's sake. Aiming to keep the confidence up by starting a strong side. Massive negative reaction follows.
Just go weak as fuck and if we draw 0-0, big deal.
If we can't put at least a couple past Kairat, then we've got a problem.
This is the biggest free hit game of them all. Better use it as shooting practice eh?
just be sure to take the lineup into consideration. We might want a big win but if we rotate massively, like we should, then I wouldn't expect a 10 goal route. Yes we should be capable of handily beating them either way but a rag-tag time-up likely isn't going to decimate a Champions League team.
I really enjoy the no pressure games...the league games give me the shits.
One of the big reasons I want us to win the league this year is that I then might be able to enjoy the league games next year...
ha HA! well put, I couldn't have put it better myself.
Pointing out the ebbs and flows of a highly competitive league, and how there'll be bumps in the road inevitably, is not apportioning blame.
It's policing fans and their reactions. Why the need?
But calling for perspective is not the same as blaming fans.
But those quotes did exactly that

But calling for perspective is not the same as blaming fans.
Where and when did I blame fans?
You quote two "excellent" comments which did just that.
Even the angriest, roomiest fan wants Arsenal to win. I think the fans who are always so relaxed (and quiet at the end when we have blown titles like in 21/22 and 22/23) look down on fans who get nervous and agitated. It shows that they're not really calm at all, they're just masking it and seriously triggered when fans just speak out their frustrations. I'm sure it affects players, but they are professionals and the best ones block it out and perform.
Where and when did I blame fans?
At the risk of coming across as condescending, it's called "perspective". The world - non-football and football - could do with a healthy dose of it.

You do realise there have been 21 Premier League seasons since and at least 5 of them have involved us leading and blowing the title? Perspective is not pretending the fans are being unreasonable in being nervous. Brushing that off by blaming fans for their reaction is actually a lack of perspective.

At the risk of coming across as condescending, it's called "perspective". The world - non-football and football - could do with a healthy dose of it.
As others have pointed out before, had the cesspool of social media been around when the Invincibles had to rely on an embarrassing Pires dive against Pompey to maintain the unbeaten run, many fans would not have been able to cope. Yet it turned out okay in the end, didn't it?
" I really don't like this blaming of the fans. "

Nobody anywhere is "blaming" the fans, certainly nobody within the club. So that line of discussion is irrelevant.
sorry, I see this it's been covered, disregard.
Also think a small tendency to concede late goals this season has added to anxiety.
Liverpool away, Villa away, Sunderland away, United at home. That's an issue imo
heh, yeah, this
Sorry, it's not that the team has to perform too. The team has to perform. Every game there is a massive cheer at the start and fans drive the team on. On Sunday, Arsenal went 1-0 up and you know that...
" I really don't like this blaming of the fans. "
Who is blaming them? I've seen plenty of comments saying a fanbase can raise a team up but I'm not seeing anyone blame the fans for a team playing shit... generally speaking.
The problem with Reddit is how bloody huge and all-encompassing it is. You start off with r/Arsenal, pretty soon you are checking out r/Football, then r/Sports, after a month you are a fully participating member of r/Microwaves, r/Space and r/TrumpMemes and after 6 months, fuggedaboutit
And tbh, I'd like to take a break from here as well, give you all a break and change habits. I'm getting far too stuck in my ways and my need to comment every day.
I quite like Reddit myself, but Christ man, in your case I would say do not add another SM avenue to your plate.
Heh! I won't, trying so hard to keep away from it. This is the only place I comment. Well, every so often elsewhere but kept to an absolute minimum.

It says a lot about your point of view that you chose those two comments as illustrative of the kind of comments you would define as excellent, both exaggerating what Arsenal fans who criticise have been saying and both policing what other fans should feel and express. This is exactly the kind of toxicity that's eaten away at this club for years. Why don't people just focus their views on the football, rather than having to demean fans for having an opinion they disagree with?
Is that Reddit? For some reason was never able to get into that. Always seemed so old school, which is no doubt a good thing, but never liked the look of the front-end. Good discussions on there?

"Sunday felt like a short, sharp, shock"
how much bigger would our lead at the top of the league table be if games ended at 85 minutes instead of 90? 😬 😂
Arse!
well in, chrism! be lucky
Good call, Blogs. That backline is exactly what I want to see, no Willy, no Big Gabby, no Timber, and hopefully Califiori getting some minutes even if not from the start. We've really missed him.
Eze and Ode together, again good call. Neither have been playing full games so shouldn't be too terribly fatigued. This is a chance to start them together, and for the love of all that is holy, please play Norgaard and rest fricking Zubi.
The thing is, some of it is quite sophisticated, hence the "nerdy tactico" take I gave them.

We’re not going to win every game and we have the better schedule for the rest of the season everyone needs to chill out."
@TFGhunter
"Finally some voices of reason. I am really tired of seeing some fans being over-hype when we win the game and being overly critical after a lose. It's one thing to recognize the weakness of the team, or even to rant on the poor performance, and its quite another to curse our players when things don't go so well."

Paul Scholes treble winning side had 43 points after 23 games compared to this Arsenals 50 after 23 games.
He also played for a side who won the title with 75 points so maybe the big toe sucking price should go fuck himself?

I do get the sense from some fan cohorts that adopting a sceptical stance towards Arteta is somehow tantamount to anti-intellectualism or entitlement.

Yeah that sucks mate, I had a 100% record at the Ems myself until the fateful trip over to watch the home game against Swansea. Michu outpacing our defensive snails and sealing a shock defeat. Took me a while to stomach the cause again (Nottingham Forest at home last season)!
'I like how Blogs mentioned the United game could be the short, sharp shock we all needed'
Yeah, but why did it have to be the match i attended?! Three Cat. A tickets, flights, travel food and drink etc etc......I don't get that many opportunities to do that these days. Oh well; I'm over it now....Just a bad day at the office. He says through gritted teeth ; )
And well in chris...be lucky!
I've got it. I think my Viktor/ Chapman dream must be to do with playing Leeds on Saturday. Elland Road saw the denouement of the latter's improbable redemption arc.

I can't find anywhere that says you can only use List B players in the knockouts, it looks like it's just a list of young or "locally trained" players. List A is over 21s or non locally trained players. 🤷🏻♂️
All Arteta had to say was “we are going to abandon the our ditchwater-style of play and give you something a lot easier on the eye to watch”. But he didn’t because he can’t. He claims it’s going to be fun. Oh really? What, after drilling all the fizz out of the side. I don’t think so. As always, hope I’m wrong.
Talking to a pool fan mate of mine..
Honestly those wankers are so spoilt moaning about Slot. "He only won it with Klopps team"... spoilt wankers buying that narrative.

There are around 60 players on that list but a lot of them are classed as List B. Apparently only 25 can be registered for the group stage and they are categorised as List A. No introduction of any from List B until knock out stages and at that point you can introduce up to 3 new players from the B List
So doesn’t look as if he could use them anyway
"nerdy social media tacticos who act like Arteta walks on water and never makes a mistake. Again, many have followers in the 10s of thousands. "
Again, I do not see these people - but probably because I'm not on Twitter where that garbage tactico nonsense has currency
And my main point was the sneering contempt for Arsenal fans who criticise their team from the nerdy social media tacticos who act like Arteta walks on water and never makes a mistake. Again, many have followers in the 10s of thousands. Maybe a lot of bots, but significant amount.
The real issue is I spend too much time on X and YouTube. I don’t listen to AFTV as much as I used to. I still think they have some good pundits but even the good ones like Lee Judges eventually get on my nerves!

“An utter mug”. This is the point I’m making. Do you understand what has been happening in this world over the past few years?
O hara still bitter about being released by AFC as a teenager .

Fine to listen when we do well imo, then enjoy O'Hara sweet tears
I don't understand the point you're making this morning, NB. Why tar all Arsenal fans with the online brush that the vast majority don't use?
I’m being realistic. The majority of Arsenal fans watch Sky Sports, listen to Talk Sport and use social media. To suggest otherwise is going against the evidence. I’m not saying it’s right, not at all. But I don’t understand how you can deny that, even if you don’t do that.
I've got it. I think my Viktor/ Chapman dream must be to do with playing Leeds on Saturday. Elland Road saw the denouement of the latter's improbable redemption arc.

If I choose to watch something, it's only on the back of a successful game where I know my hormones will be boosted by praise for my team, or it's so transparently bitter bollocks that it gives me delight. If bad vibes is a risk, I steer well clear.

I know other peoples' dreams are tedious- but had a weird one last night where Viktor was actually Lee Chapman. Lee knew his return to top flight football would be taken even less seriously than it was in the 80s. So he assumed the persona of a young Swede. With acting coaching from Lesley Ash he re-entered the merciless world of the top flight number 9.

I really enjoy the no pressure games...the league games give me the shits.
One of the big reasons I want us to win the league this year is that I then might be able to enjoy the league games next year

We came back well from Liverpool away lose and villa loss. Am not going to look at other seasons. Because the consistency of that is the fans , not the exact same players and players at same age in their development.
I see positive and glass half full and Glass half empty fans on SM
I think fabs thought Eze would be a important sign , piece of the jigsaw. Like blogs said Eze and Odegaard to play together and connect would be great to see tonight

I've got no problem with what Arteta said. As I said before, he understood how important the connection with the fans is. He understood the club so was able to make that connection. He says he will play with courage and if he does, the fans will be 100% behind him. My issue is more with the commentary around. I've said before here that there are tons of influential Arsenal social media nerds now, who analyse every detail tactically, come out in favour of Arteta 100% of the time and seem to have this air of despising any fan who criticises the team in any way. I find that to be the noxious thing. Yes, there are fans who go way too far. But the best way to deal with that is not to shut down reasonable criticism with sardonic comments or worse. This team has gone through a lot and has faltered in recent games. It's really up to no one but themselves to get back up and provide the guts and results to keep us on top. I really think we have to be 6 points clear when we face Man City. I'll be honest, I'm worried we'll fall off again because we have done at this stage so many times. It's not the fans who can change that, it's the team and the manager has to be bold, the team has to play with courage and that means horseshoe passing and percentage balls has to give way to some real aggression especially in the final third, or "zone 15" or whatever the fuck they call it now!
But the reality is that Talk Sport is listened to by many fans and Sky Sports and TNT is watched by many fans. They in turn take their talking points from social media and it filters into fans' feelin...

I didn't read him blaming fans .
Arteta' could simply say , our fabs the gest we love our fans. So it can't be edited. For click bait . But I think Arteta is manifesting a deeper point and understanding and connection with the fan base.
I think as fans, we have to start realising just how foggin good this side is, and start appreciating it.
There's a reason all the dickheads, call us Set piece Fc, Dark arts FC, criticize Artetas behavior, whilst giving Slot & Pep a free pass.. They are scared...
The fact that we are disappointed to be only 4 pts clear, with 15 games to go is testament of where we're at, and if as a match going fan, you're not prepared to get on board with that, then F''k off and don't come.....give you're ticket to someone who wnats to help, and watch it on your firestick
Wenger was asked, why did Liverpool win CL's when the couldn't win the League, his simple answer... Anfield....
Maybe we're too honest and discerning as fans, and not as delusional as some others, but, we have a choice...
We can be a spectator, or a fan..... make your choice....

But the reality is that Talk Sport is listened to by many fans and Sky Sports and TNT is watched by many fans. They in turn take their talking points from social media and it filters into fans' feelings and back again. It's great if you can ignore it. I try my best, but the whole point of it was to say we looked at the start off the year like we could pull away from City. We were in a position, given their own draws and losses etc to have been able to really turn the screw and go even 11 points clear. We've had a bad start to the year and while I don't see any fans booing the team, I'm seeing a lot of implication that fans need to do more when it's really the team that needs to do more. I just don't like not only blaming the fans, but turning on them in quite vicious ways when they criticise players and team performance as they are perfectly entitled to do. In fact, it's healthy to be honest rather than sugar-coat it. This team has to prove itself again. There are some great players here and others who can play better. Even the ones like Madueke and Gyökeres who look like they're struggling to prove themselves can do better than they've been doing. I'm just saying to everyone, whether directly or by implication, stop blaming our poor performances on the fans.

There's to much attention payed to what's been spouted online, and people being wound up by the hoards of keyboard trolls who love to to see "fans" abusing the team and manager to the extreme, I personally don't give a monkeys fuck what pundits or online click bait sites say, but unfortunately it is the world we live in.
I'm not sugar coating the recent form of the squad and was as disappointed as the next person at recent results, but I can keep a lid on it and there is always the next match to look forward to
Not entirely sure who MA has available from the younger players as depends on the squad declared for European games

I disagree personally. I haven't met any Arsenal fans who thought we would win the league. Even early in the season, the only feeling I detected from real fellow fans was terror. That "omg don't even ...
"Oh my god don't even say it" ie don't say what we're all thinking, don't jinx it. We had a chance to go 9-11 points clear. If we were 11 points clear at this stage it would have looked like walking away with it. What I will say is that at least we've been where we are before, and slipped around here a couple of times, so it'll keep us focused. I like how Blogs mentioned the United game could be the short, sharp shock we all needed. And at least it gets the rival pundits back on our case as bad fans and a club ready to blow it. That's better than people saying that we're gonna walk away with it.

Again, total agreement. But 22 years of not winning and several near misses will do that to a fanbase. That fanbase was feeling confident, the word was we were gonna walk away with the title. Suddenly...

Oh come on, there was loads of talk on the airwaves. Again, I know a lot of it was deliberately set up by rivals to tempt fate. Most of us fans were not falling for it, but there were quite a few who were crowing about Arteta's genius and it was hard to disagree. We looked like we were in a dominant position (not for the first time). I saw a post - almost certainly AI generated - which highlighted how Arteta was playing in the side that blew the title allowing minnows Leicester to win in 2016. That may well have left its own mark on the man and all he represents. To defy that will take monumental effort. As is often said about title fights, a challenger can't expect to win on points, they have to knock out the champion. I think we'll have to do the same.
I felt even in December when we were flying high that the trip to the Etihad was gonna be the decider. You've got to take it from them, even if they're not champions, they are the team that's dominated these past years. I'd feel very nervous going up there to win, but that's where the team has to defy the nerves and show something it hasn't showed yet, real bottle.
Who said we were going to walk away with the title, NB? That's such an arrogant and hubristic notion. No discerning Arsenal supporter would have been so presumptuous. That attitude reeks of entitlement, and that has a tendency to come back and bite in the arse.
From my very basic studies of human psychology.. I must say that, even if a team is playing well on the pitch, if 60k+ people surrounding that team are feeling scared and nervous and edgy - I believe ...
Again, total agreement. But 22 years of not winning and several near misses will do that to a fanbase. That fanbase was feeling confident, the word was we were gonna walk away with the title. Suddenly we have draws and a couple of defeats and what would you expect fans to feel? The totally unnecessary bad results came first, not the nerviness of fans.
Yes, but that's not good faith discussion, it's bait.
Agreed, but that bait is all over the internet, radio and TV. And that is what affects players and fans because it's hard not to react or be affected by it. And it keeps getting regurgitated. The truth is fans can get angry in the heat of the moment but they will be cheering their team on as they always do. And players they criticised will have better games, then those same commentators will call fans fickle. We have to all try to blot it out. We're still in the driving seat!
From my very basic studies of human psychology.. I must say that, even if a team is playing well on the pitch, if 60k+ people surrounding that team are feeling scared and nervous and edgy - I believe that will transmit to the players and affect their performance.
Obviously you can make an argument about WHY those 60k people are feeling nervous in the first place, but it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation.
Again, I'm no scholar in psychology (philosophy's more my bag) but I genuinely think the atmosphere created by thousands of people could even rattle the most well-drilled, calm team of players.
That's really not true. Arteta and Arsenal social media peeps are more implying it (some of them saying it outright), because saying it directly is bad press. The Talk Sport mob are having a field day...
Yes, but that's not good faith discussion, it's bait.
Nobody anywhere is "blaming" the fans, certainly nobody within the club. So that line of discussion is irrelevant.
That's really not true. Arteta and Arsenal social media peeps are more implying it (some of them saying it outright), because saying it directly is bad press. The Talk Sport mob are having a field day calling Arsenal fans the worst. Arteta shouldn't need to reference the fans. He's done great work re-connecting the fans to the club, and I know he needs to say something on media to rouse the troops. But the fans want this as bad as anyone and they will respond if the team shows courage. It kind of goes without saying.
Arse!

Also think a small tendency to concede late goals this season has added to anxiety.
Liverpool away, Villa away, Sunderland away, United at home. That's an issue imo
Of course. Team first, fans follow / join. No brainer.

I thought it was good messaging by Arteta, he has foggin estandards but is also a very, very smart man. I liked the vibe.

Sorry, it's not that the team has to perform too. The team has to perform. Every game there is a massive cheer at the start and fans drive the team on. On Sunday, Arsenal went 1-0 up and you know that the fans were ecstatic and I know that I was thinking "come on let's go for it". Then Arsenal went into their shell. Zubimendi has the ball, Rice makes a great run between the midfielders arm out asking for Zubi to play the through ball we know he can play. Instead Zubi passes back to a Saliba being pressed, Saliba passes back to Zubi and the rest is history.
When you give away a goal like that in such a key match, you have to expect the fans to feel disheartened at the lack of courage in that one move. But the fans kept cheering. And when Arsenal went 2-2, you just know the fans were driving the team on to go on and win it. Then we gave the ball away again and Utd got a winner which took the guts out of us.
That's not the fault of fans. That's the team and they have to take full responsibility. I really don't like this blaming of the fans. The fans more than played their part as they will continue to do. It's up to Arteta to be true to his word and get his team to play with courage. You have to take this title, it won't come from playing safe and no fan wants us to play safe. The ball is squarely in the court of the manager and the way he sets his team out.
Arse.

Easier said than done, the fanbase is dreadfully nervous and desperate, I count myself amongst that 100%. A roaring, supportive fanbase will lift the team no doubt. Perhaps good that the next league game is away, where the support is unwaveringly loud and persistent. I understand that the team has to perform too, I just feel there is a strong link between the two, even if nobody is saying the fans drive the performances.
Arse!
Well in ChrisM. Unlucky big cock!
Well in Chris! If Arteta can keep his side of the bargain and get his team to play with courage ie with conviction in attack, then the fans will definitely back him. If not, it's gonna be tough.
