Agree we are on our way we can do it . I think bit of respect for the champions. We gain a point and a clean sheet .
They have good players and some okay players but Slots plan to flood midfielder and stop space for Leo , by playing two right backs worked . And slot playing a false nine worked for them second half and wertz looked tricky

It worries me for all the reasons you’ve mentioned. Yet too many are excusing this away as “one of those games”. We’ve had too many of “those games”. What’s amazing is we’re still top, but City will have gained hope from that. Rather than turn the screw we seem to have lost the thread!

A little but calmer. We didn’t play well, at home against the champions. But we extended our lead. But what demoralisation there is in the fanbase is a much-needed remedy for any hubris that we’ve won the league already. A necessary corrective!

Both goals were really well taken - mostly because of the timing of his runs. I’ve watched him all season and he’s been woeful and lazy up until now…agreed.

I cannot wait for Havertz to return. I think Odegaard will start playing forward again then. Today he had some sort of mental block. Didn’t attempt anything and didn’t get the team going - which is the minimum I’d expect as Arsenal captain - if his own performance wasn’t going well - at least gee up everyone else! He didn’t.

The game against Spurs really looked like we’d turned a corner and played with the handbrake off…now it’s like we are overthinking everything or players are being over cautious due to instructions given.

Playing with Gyokeres right now feels like playing with a player less. He’s not contributing at all. He’s not moving up front, he’s not holding up the ball, he’s not finding space to receive ball or drag defenders wide with him, he’s not even running to close players down when we are out of possession. I don’t get it.

To be fair to Clive, the voice is no doubt smooth but he often makes insightful comments and I get the point. Gyökeres at least occupies defenders but his play is so so poor I did not expect that. No goals from open play in 11 now? Not good enough.

But I guess we have to persist.

Right enough ranting from me.

I think the league is very competitive vs every team sucks. We are actually quite good. 2nd most goals scored and least conceded.
Oh yeah completely agree re very competitive but there's no standout performers like City & Liverpool have been in recent years is what I mean. We've had the best defence in the league for a while but attacking has remained the problem. Big part of that I think is slow buildup play with minimal risk-taking meaning every team can get 10 men behind the ball & then there's no space to work with. I appreciate that's modern possession based football but it's boring & frustrating af & I think puts too much pressure on Saka & Trossard to then produce some magic to unlock the defence (both of whom did only for no one to be attacking the crosses).

Frimpong looks like Gervinho both in style and play. Zips past his marker with ease but after that goes a bit "what now?!?". A little more composure from him after he left defenders for dead and we would've been in trouble.

While we weren't great, particularly in that second half, they were not great either. They had no shots on target the whole match and 0.37 xG. Granted they were missing Salah, Isak and Ekitike, but you can't expect our defense to do much better. The problem was attacking mid and forwards.

Gyokeres I made my mind up after Bournemouth will never be good enough & this match just further confirmed that (I'm not being negative & reactive, actually just watch him he just has a horrible touch & that will never be corrected age 27). He'll be a squad player this year & next & then leave for a bottom half team if that.

What I really fail to grasp is why there's zero attacking intent when Saka, Madueke, Martinelli & Trossard get to the byeline to cross it in as they did on various occasions. Where tf were the strikers or even Odegaard/Eze & rest of the midfield & the opposite wingers.

We’re not a passing team, we’re a “moves”team, drills and moves. No interplay, not like PSG or Bayern. Liverpool just outpassed us.

Saka tries to do it all himself. Trossard too. Ødegaard looks for final balls. They don’t link up and they don’t improvise.

This is a very strong team, but I think we miss Calafiori so much. Hincapié was ok but MLS was terrible when he came on

“There have been doubts over the last few years about if they had that strength in depth, but this year, I think with their recruitment, you look at their bench tonight, it's all set up for Arsenal to go on and win the title.
They're so strong, so aggressive, real goal threats, physically they're very good at not giving much away at the back.
Big challenge for them tonight. With other teams slipping up yesterday, it's there for them to go and grab it and embrace the challenge and go and win that title.
If you'd ask me which dressing room I'd like to be in to go and win the title, I'd 100% say Arsenal. It's geared up for them. They've got to go now and take the opportunity.”

What a statement a win would be tonight, going into the game feeling confident feels fucking stupid and asking for misery. I have started to want this too much, I fear :/

Definitely won't be easy, and I'm always wary when there's a good feeling, but it's hard not to feel good right now and feel confident for tonight. But it's gonna take our A-game.

Hah, yeah, and you have to feel sorry for the injury/Afcon crisis impacting our rivals.

I said it before, I get sick of the ‘this team/ that team is in transition’ comments too. We bought 8 players in the summer, surely we’re in transition as well, as are any team that sacks and replaces its manager every 12 months. So which team isn’t in transition, or doesn’t have issues?
It’s also good to see opposition fans bleating on about how PGMOL and VAR are favouring us this season - I mean, WTF!?

Come on, let’s find another big win for the good guys! 🤞🙏

This game will play out similar to the one at anfield. Pool’s current unbeaten streak is thanks to a much more defensive approach and you can be sure they’ll be even more defensive tonight.

We will take the controlled approach as usual, and will need some explosive moments to break it open. Unless we find an early goal it won’t be an easy viewing.

Like at anfield, and v Citeh, we’ll get the criticism of not going for it enough and there’ll be excuse makers defending Slots team.

We mashed the spuds, and swatted the Villa, now let’s go do the same to the departing champions.
