There were a fair few saying he was shit as well, but from the moment Isaw him play I wished he had been with us. I'll be honest, Doku is raw, but I really like the way he dribbles with the ball, his balance, ability to go either side of the defender, a fair amount of savvy and vision. He's young and yeah I think he's short of being world class, but I do like how he moves with the ball.

It's a fair point and maybe there's some truth to that. I don't watch them as closely as our players. But tbh I have an idea of certain players and how they move and manipulate the ball. It's why I preferred Messi to Ronaldo. Some players just glide with the ball and can improvise when dribbling.
Both Martinelli and Madueke have excellent control of the ball, mesmerising at times what they can do. But when they dribble it kind of feels with both that the ball gets stuck behind them, they kind of have to drag it with them. Whereas to me, when I see Doku or Diaz, they seem to be able to glide with the ball stuck to their feet. I think Trossard is closer to that, but Trossard lacks a bit of athleticism though since he's worked on that his approach play has improved considerably.
When we had that spell a couple of seasons ago when we were winning games 4 and 5 nil, we seemed to have really clicked in our play. I'm hoping for a 7 or 8 game spell (preferably close to the finishing line) where we click like that.
As I said, exceptional team in so many departments, mentality monsters (Gabriel is just the best CB in the world right now, flanked by arguably the second best), so maybe I'm nitpicking, being anxious, dooming, whatever. I'm just waiting for something more from our attack that I haven't seen yet and which I think we'll need to hold off City.

Do you ever think that maybe they're easier on the eye to you because you're not invested in them doing something well like you are with our players? If Martinelli fails to beat his man or Madueke loses possession it hits harder than if Doku falls over and shits his pants. All players have dodgy moments but when we're so invested in our players doing well every single bad thing can seem way more crucial than when a C115y player messes up for example.
They already have Doku, Savinho, Silva, Foden to feed the monster No 9. Their approach play is genuinely creative. I watched highlights of last night’s game and again we look so stunted going forward....
Let’s hope Arteta can help Madueke develop some composure when shooting. He is excellent one v one, but from what I’ve seen he needs a better understanding of when not to overcook it. He was good yesterday at realizing a shot wasn’t on two of the times and managed to semi cross it, which led to Gabriel’s goal.
Thought Odegaard was good positionally yesterday, not so much roaming. I think Arteta subbed him after we conceded to Kroupi jr, because he was most likely tired and left the gap. He tracked back well for a lot of the game though. Semenyo is a quality player… that low cross across Raya’s 6 years box is going to be ideal for Haaland… sadly.

Like with Bayern, that came after a tough first half and then a breakthrough and then the game opens up and we can do our thing. Our issues come when we face teams who are well-organised and we seem at times to have no idea how to break them down. I think with our team, it's the best in terms of organisation and defence and in attack it's about moments, which can be exceptional. But if it's not happening, we seem to run out of ideas. Having said that, so far we keep finding a way. Long may that continue. the mentality of this team is pretty special, no doubt. I'd just like to see a bit more finesse to our approach play and that will require Ødegaard really stepping up, which tbs there are signs of him doing..

Several on here kept saying that Diaz was shite as well. Diaz, Doku, Savinho all move the ball in a pleasing way to me. Their end product hasn't been great, so I understand why you say that. But I think we could do with some of that kind of control and passing of a football in our team, which seems more geared to extreme athleticism and well-coached moves, which seem to break down when facing stubborn teams who are also well organised. I just want to see a bit more fantasy from Arsenal. I don't know if we have the players to do it, as good as Trossard has been and as good as Ødegaard and Saka can be (neither has quite hit peak yet).

Yes, Haaland is a massive difference. But I do their AMs have more variety than us. I’m still nowhere near convinced about Madueke and Martinelli still plays at times in frustrating ways. It’s more the approach play it still looks so stunted at times. Then there are moments of brilliance. I just don’t know if they can ever get that consistent fluidity that I see in City’s approach play. I have no doubt we will have to take from them at the Etihad to be crowned champions. I hope Chelsea do something today, but I just don’t see it.

They already have Doku, Savinho, Silva, Foden to feed the monster No 9. Their approach play is genuinely creative. I watched highlights of last night’s game and again we look so stunted going forward. We have moments of excellence, but overall attacking play is still awful. The money we spent on Madueke and Gyökeres with so little return. Yes, Madueke had an assist but some of the things he does are sooo raw it’s embarassing at times when compared to other top teams. And Gyökeres, will he even get to 10 goals? If we win the league it will be against all footballing odds, even as we stand 7 points clear of the favourites. It a testament to Arteta’s organisation and assembling of the best defenders and an exceptional couple of midfielders. But I’m sorry, the attacking players are nowhere near good enough. Sorry, just how I see it. I sooo want them to prove me wrong.

It's crazy C115y can pay 65 million for a long throw specialist. Kroupi Jr looks like a forward to keep an eye on.

Missed watching this game for the same reason I missed the Sunderland away. Caught the first half on radio but unlike with Sunderland didn’t check early to see the result. Pleasantly surprised. Well done!
We needed that. In Gabriel, Saliba and Rice we have players who would grace any team in the world. That counts for a lot. It could be enough but it’s tight.
City have the best striker in the world, a world class GK and in Rodri, the Ballon d’Or winner, back. Today is a big day. We need Chelsea to step up but I can’t see it.
We have to get our attack working but it’s frustrating to see so little product from Gyökeres again. I think it hinges on what kind of Havertz we get back.

Rice has to be one of the best footballers in world football right now. The best leader too. I think Kane has had a good run as England captain, but I’d absolutely hand it over to Rice now. His level of leadership is the best I’ve seen. He’s vocal, he’s supportive, he does his own job brilliantly, he covers others, he puts his body on the line in tackles, and he motivates and drives everyone. He is literally everywhere.
We got him cheap.
When Gabriel decided to have a moment and pass Evanlison the ball, I wasn’t even worried…I said instantly, he’ll get it back. And he did.
Mentally, Rice and Gabriel are just unbelievable.
