When I said the defense kept us in the game in the first quarter of the match I meant as a team, not necessarily the CBs. We made some great defensive efforts to thwart an aggressive opponent who got into good positions (it also helps that their supposed wonderkid was wearing Partey's shooting boots)

Martinelli starting again showed his ineffectiveness in such games where it gets crowded. Ref definitely favoured Chelsea and allowed them to be dirty from early on. Taylor must have been gutted to give Caicedo the red, when I saw him give the yellow I was stunned, when he went to the screen I knew it would happen, but they were getting away with stuff.
Just before Zubimendi got a yellow for a pull, some Chelsea player pushed aggressively and got nothing.
